Just had 'em done at my work and put on the car yesterday. It's a paint system that doesn't chip, peel, pit, rust, corrode or any of those other negative words associated with chrome. If your interested PM me...I'm in Chicago but ship anywhere...forum members get a sweet deal. Tell me what you think guys!

i liked black chrome wheels on my friends PBM....but these i dont think really justify black chrome =/
they seem to be pretty poor quality, especially in the 3rd picture, might just be me??

not a fan sorry

that's cool man everyone's entitled to their own opinion...My camera sux...keep in mind. I'm happy that's all that matters.

PS...It's not real plating...It's a paint system, plasma coating.

i like it! definately something different.

is the 'finish' on the wheel supposed to be pitted like that?

i dont know that 'pitted' is the right word to use, but you can see that its not a smooth surface.

It looks like it's fish eyed. If it were smooth then maybe but it's not so it looks funny

Other than that it looks like a sweet color!

It's very similar to powdercoat in that "orange peel" (correct term here) is unavoidable...I'll take orange peel over pitted, peeling, corroding chrome anyday.
Not to mention it's warrantied for 4 years, chrome is only for 1 year....plus I got 'em done for free as a first time use sample product along with about 4 others they did for my store.

Thats more than orange peel... That looks more like "Toasted English Muffin".

If it was smooth as glass (like chrome IS) then I MIGHT be interested, but it looks like ass now.

Those would look good on a quicksilver or BOM colored goat. Not, that they look bad on yours. What did that set you back?

I like it, looks really good. Then again I am biased. I had my rims painted and clear coated Phantom Black Metallic a while ago. Regarding the critism from people....you did ask for peoples opinions. If all you want is positive feedback, then it is wise not to ask what people think on a public forum. Could you post a picture of the entire car?

Your right Tpr...I did ask for opinions. Positive and Negative feedback are welcome. I'll get a pic up of the whole car when I get my cam fixed...probably tomorrow.

free brother....they were included in a set of samples I had done for my store. Reg price for anything under 20" is $200.00 per though.

I detailed an new Rolls Royce about 1.5 years ago...i couldn't believe the orange peel

then again, my GTO's orange peel is rediculous

What type of surface prep did you do? I had my 18s blasted and powdercoated satin black where I work. When I had them blasted they said they could use either sand or plastic. I asked what the difference was and they said plastic would make them smoother. After they were blasted I was glad I went with plastic because it had a little texture to it. When they were coated it toned it down some but I also have "orange peel". I think it really comes down to surface and technique. I watched the guy coat them and it was difficult to get the powder into all the deep spots(lugnut holes, etc.) without it building up on the flat surfaces. So if you see orange peel its either a textured surface or too thick.

You seem to be well versed in refinishing techniques...Previously my wheels were powdercoated hyper black so when I decided to go with the black chrome all we had to do was strip the old finish with aircraft remover...the stripping process took a few days because as we all know powder coat is very durable. After that they were sent out to the plant in Ohio that actually does the "metallight" coating (by the way that's what it's called) and the wheels were then re-prepped (if that's a word) and primed for the coating....When the stockers were brand new and I had them done in hyper black, we went with a true sand blast as opposed to plastic blast...that may have contributed to the orange peel. I never even thought of that actually....GOOD POINT!

I'll stick to my powdercoat.... much cheaper then $200 a wheel, if I read that right.

I do like it though, I'm in westmont a couple times a week I can't believe I've never seen you.

i think they look pretty dam good

not to many people will get with in inches of the wheel any way , so the orange peel wont be as noticeable

and yes prep work is 80% of the final look

I think they look great with Cosmos purple, and I like the textured look anyway. Nice wheels man.

+1. And I had the black chrome stock 17s. There's a thread floating around here somewhere with pictures.
IMO, just way too not smooth to have wide spokes like they do. :/
I think it'd definitely look real nice on a cosmos for sure.

From the pictures - I like it, but I would like to see it in person as well. But 200 a wheel ? Yikes.
