Hi guys,

Let's say theoretically my dad gave me a couple rifles. But he bought them when registration wasn't required and he hasn't used them since then. Is it possible for me to register them now even if I don't have any of the receipts or anything? They were legal to have when he was using them for hunting but I'm not sure if I'd get into trouble by trying to register 25-30 year old rifles that were never registered in the 1st place. Anyone know anything that can help?

No clue about NJ laws. You may want to check around here, register and ask your question if no one here can.

Why even bother to register them, best to stay off the radar of the feds. It's not like you are gonna mount them in the back window of your car or are you??? If they were never registered can't see why they would get you into any trouble and if something did arise just play stupid. Registration is just another way for big brother to be up our ass, aside from keeping criminals from owning weapons "legally"; not that this stops them.
