I have used the plug kit on my bikes with great results, and they are cheap! You can buy them at WalMart along with the little compressor too. I have saved a few of my buddies from being stranded (and myself) by plugging the hole.:gr_jest:

May I ask why you would take the spare out?

My vote would be run flats.

what if you get a cut in the tire instead of a hole?

Never understood the value of a "spare tire in a can" that many exotics include instead of a spare tire.
I had a puncture in my work Ranger p/u going 70 in the fast lane. By the time I felt the tire going down and got to the right shoulder(non-existent left shoulder), the tire sidewall was toast. I can imagine getting a puncture going 100+ in a Ferrari F430 and pulling over to find the skinny sidewall was shredded and the rim destroyed. Sure if one can afford a Ferrari, one doesn't worry about buying a new tire and rim. But time lost waiting for a roll-back tow truck and hoping the car isn't damaged further by the tow truck driver isn't worth it to me to save a few pounds in weight or gain a few square feet of stowage space.

I have repaired several tires using stuff like that, and it works great. Yes of course its not going to repair a slice, or a ruined sidewall, but they work really well. If your set on getting rid of the spare, get a tire repair kit, and get AAA to rescue you from major blow outs.
