My wheels are like welded to the hubs.
Its kind of like they adhered together or something tried banging with a rubber mallet. Pried with a screw driver "easily"
Is there something special you have to do to get these off?

no, just coat the inside center cap area with some lube, it will keep em from rusting together again.

I know it does not seem like it would be good for it but sometimes you gota give it a nice hit. :gr_jest:

LOL, same thing happened to me when I rotated the tires. After I managed to get them off with softly tapping with a rubber hammer I cleaned and sprayed with WD-40 and have eased the problem.

Or anti-seize around the hub... :) first you have to get yours off! Try hitting the rim with the rubber mallet from behind.

put a lug nut on the wheel about two turns loose and wack the hell out of the wheel (with a rubber mallet) slowly turning it to hit in different spots. I used white grease on the hubs and no prob since.

So what happens if we get a flat by the side of the road, and have no tools other than the standard jack?

Use the heel of your foot!

Trust me, it works too! :D

A zinc-based antisieze is good for ferrous-aluminum interface.

Sometimes we have to take extreme measures due to the salt of the ocean side area here and people not changing wheels until they have 20-30K on the car... vehicle on lift, all but one lug off and that one only 3 or so turns from off, unscrew floor jack handle, make sure customer is not in sight, use said handle to whack the bejeezus out of the back side rubber sidewall of the tire. Repeat as required. Takes care and a good eye, but often it is the only way a rim can be removed.

The same thing just happened to me. Took me 20 minutes to get one off. I had to continuously bang and pull on the tire. What a job! I will put some grease on now.

A zinc-based antisieze is good for ferrous-aluminum interface.

This is the best fix.

I found out about with a truck used for towing a small boat. An old man at the bay warned me about trying to get the rear aluminium wheels off after dousing them in salt water once a month during the summer. He recognized the look on my face and said when I decided to believe him use the anti-sieze compound on the surface of the wheel which comes into contact with the hub/drum.

Works just as well on the GTO too.
