Yes I know, another wheel shake thread. The final annoyance was traveling to and from the NE meet. At about 60 mph, the wheel shake was very bad, even the passenger noticed it. :banghead: I was reading in some of the other wheel shake threads that a different brand of tire would be good. Any thoughts on this?

I was going to try the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S 245/45WR17's but people keep scaring
me with fitment issues. If you try them, let me know if there is any rubbing on the
struts. I am looking for a guniea pig... ;)

These are rated pretty highly on Tire Rack....

I have read that also regarding the fitment issues. I have an appointment at 1015 this morning at the dealership, hopefully the problem will be resolved.

I need to get this solved soon also ...so that I can get all the wheel weights off my wheels before I install my new brakes. I've been comparing the tire ratings that Tire Rack uses verses the ratings the individual tire manufacturers have on their own websites and they just don't match in many cases.

I worked on automating the quality control facilities at Michelin plants so I'm
not convinced that the Tire Rack ratings are really that good being based on users surveys. The testing program they have is probably more accurate but unfortunatly they havent tested alot of tires that fit our stock wheels.

I'd rather get some much needed feedback from members here on how different tires have actually performed on the GTO...so I'll be interested in your results with the Pirelli's also.

Tpr,

both of my front tires are feathered on the inside. I need to get the alignment checked.

I just got back from taking the car for a ride since having the wheels rebalanced. The wheel shake is gone, no feathering and it is nice to have the steering wheel not vibrate anymore. The rear wheels were extremely out of balance and the drivers front was slightly out of balance. The passenger front was fine. I highly recommend going to the dealership to rectify this, no charge also with 7,428 miles on the odometer.

Any chance some of the factory weights came off?

I did not ask the service manager.

With regards to Tire Rack, I don't believe they are biased toward one tire or another. Just so you buy from them. Tires are a cut-throat business.

Btw, OHIO, have you been to Laurens, SC, to automate that plant yet? If you are going that way, bring me some good info on how the Michelin man builds the tires I sell for them. :D
