It seems that a narrow tire is the key for the rear to fit. Ive searched past posts and know everyone likes the Toyo's, and Nitto seem to run narrow too. BFG's run a little wide. I was wondering where the Kumho MX's rank?

Instead of just looking for a tire that runs narrow, why noy find a tire you like and if it runs wide, step down a size?

You can look up the physical dimensions of tires on the manufacturers website.

ie. you know Nitto 275/35 will fit. They are 10.7 wide and 25.59 tall.
BFG Drag Radials in 275/35 are 10.9 wide and 25.6 tall. But the 265/40 is 10.7 wide and 26.2 tall. They are a bit taller but the width is the same as the Nittos.

Do a bit of research on the tires that interest you. THat way you know, rather than relying on someones opinion.

Narrow isn't exactly the key, though some tires just run really wide for the size.

It's the SHOULDER style. My toyos are actually wider in the section width than other 275s, but they are very round in the shoulder. 265 Yokos are not was wide was my toyos, and they still rub because their shoulder is so square.

Just FYI.

I've heard MXs work, or are atleast real close. Bridgestones, too. Pirellis are real big and square. Yokos big and square. Someone else ran BFG KDW2s with minimal rub.

I have Kumho MX, stock size, and there is no rubbing at all, even during all the tracking days.

Thanks for the info so far. The reason im asking shoulder size is there's a bunch of members running 8.5" wide rims with a 40mm offset and some are rubbing, some are not. Im not doing a stagger for rotating purposes. So either there's some variation within the Gto rear fender or its the tires that are being selected.

Both, though more a variation in assembly tolerances in the rear, namely passenger side, than fender problems. The GTO's rear seems a little shifted to the passenger side.
