Went to the track today, weather was good, track kind of sucked. I didn't get any NA runs, only got three runs total (I usually go on test-n-tune Wednesday nights, Saturday sucks ass, wait all day to get three runs).

2004 GTO with following mods
150 wet kit NX
homemade CAI
NGK TR6's gapped at .038
Timing Tuner, pulled out 6 degrees of timing, window switch set at 3000 and 5900
intank Walboro 340 fuel pump
3/4 tank of gas (93 octane)
Stock tires at 27 psi in rear, 37 psi front
265lb driver+65 lbs nitrous system, left spare tire in
Everything else absolutely bone stock, including tune, tires, suspension, gears, no other boltons, etc...

short times were horrible, 2.0

Ran 12.5 @ 115mph (GTECH registered 3 mph higher, but .1 slower than timing lights....makes sense since the trap speed is an average over last distance for the 1/4 mile via timing lights, so it should be lower than actual highest speed attained). Track is about 800-900 above sea level elevation (Muncie Dragway, IN.)

car hooked up great, no spin at all, but felt real sluggish off hte line and when the nitrous kicked in at 3000 rpm, it spun (even wheel hopped one run, a 12.7 run). It feels much better on the street, will spin a little when nitrous hits, but NEVER wheel hops...I think with a 3000 stall converter to get into the nitrous MUCH quicker and some tires it will be an 11 second car. It feels like it takes FOREVER to get to 3000 rpm with the auto!!!! I think I may try some nitto's to see if they hold the car when the nitrous hits, make pick up a tenth or so that way. Overall, fairly hapy with results for first run. I will get a tune to see if that helps any...

I would assume that my car runs 13.7-13.8 @101 on motor (based on GTECH from the street)....will run NA when I get a chance. Saw a new 05 GTO, automatic run 13.3 @ 106 twice (with his 14 year old sister in the car), pretty impressed with that car! Seems to be about a 1/2 second faster than the 04's and his was bone stock with 1500 miles (mine has 4000 miles). I am betting that my homemade CAI gain is offset from added weight of nitrous system and using the cold tight gapped plugs...

All the issues I had with my nitrous were due to a "used" timing tuner, put a new one on and it worked great. I tried using less timing retard...5 degrees seemed OK, but when I added more timing (-4 instead of -6) it detonated and blew the dipstick up a little, making sure my coilpacks never rust (sprayed a little oil, nothing big). I still get KR on the street with no timing advance or retard off the bottle, and at -6 timing, I get basically none (about .1) on 150 shot. I will get a tune and maybe desenstisize the Knock Sensors, play with torque management, check timing and fuel and spark to see if we can make things run better on motor and check AF ratio on bottle. I am hoping for 12.0 on Nittos and with the tuning...maybe a little optimistic. I don't want to put a converter or exhaust on the car, because I love it stock in terms of sound and driving....I have a fast Camaro for hillbilly racing, the GTO is too nice of a daily driver to hop it up any further (things that would hurt drivability).

Great times. Especially on the stock-verter. Certainly a 3000-stall TC might help, but not if you don't have traction. Thanks for the info - I may be adding nitrous once I'm back on the road.

yeah, the mph is god for a 4000+tank (with driver and nitous system)....converter would be sooo nice in this car, but yes, I would need at least Nitto's, maybe BFG Dr's....but I would bet money with a Yank SS 3000-3200 stall and tires, it would hit a high 11. I also know headers and exhaust would be real nice on the juice, much more so than on the motor...

intank Walboro 340 fuel pump

could you elaborate on this. is it with the cut bucket? i wasnt aware we had any options on fuel pumps yet.

Nice times!!

I might do a 50 shot once I'm done with my redo :secret:

Nice runs.

Only 3 for me today @ Martin, US 131 Dragway.

12.9 @ 109 with 2.02 60, best I could muster. No cooldowns though, just straight off the highway and right in line, only had 2 hours to spend.

The MT ET STreet DR tires are great, no wheelspin or hop for me anymore, think I toasted the clutch though.

My shifting sucked too, hopefully I can get the 60' down with some more practice and get the mid 12s.

Nice write up, Scott. I have three sets of M/T 17" drag radials coming in Tuesday. $170.00 ea. We'll have to get your GTO on the dyno and play around with it. We've seen good results in the past, it would be interesting to see how much time we can knock off your 1/4 et. Bob

We did the fuel pump mod on Scott's GTO. When we added an ATI ProCharger to one customer's car, we figured out how to modify the fuel pump bucket and also how to modify the Walbro fuel pump to adapt to the bucket. If you send us your fuel pump bucket, we modify it and add a Walbo 255 litre pump to it and send it back to you for $300.00. Bob

if Brent was there on Friday I could have had it tuned then!!! I will try to get in next Saturday for the tune, it will be interesting to see what kind of gain I get on the tune....Have EPP do you fuel bucket mod...it is going to cost you guys $150 or so just to buy the fuel pump alone, and it is easy to take out of the car...you can have the fuel pump out in an hour doing it slow and easy...mail it in and then get it back and slam it in. A 150 shot definately needs a good fuel pump, especially since we are retuenless/dead-head fuel system.

I will get the tuning and then maybe nitto's..looking for a 12.0 @118..

Blew the dipstick up and sprayed oil?
Doesnt this usually indicate you damaged the headgaskets or lifted the heads?

115mph is easily good enough for 11s. Put some track tires on it and youll be there.

I think he was saying the oil sprayed out the dipstick tube. It doesn't guarentee anything is wrong, but the forced induction guys will say to check your ring lands. They could possibly be broken and allowing gas to pass by the rings to create that pressure.

Good run SDB.

I was out at Muncie on one of the last Wed. nights last season. It was like low 30's outside and I made my first 75hp nitrous runs there. I wasn't used to the track, so I was letting out to look at the board before I crossed the line even.

My 60's were only 2.0X and with how cold it was I was spinning all 4 gears. I managed to get a 12.6X @ 117ish with a CAI, LT's, CB, Preadator stock tune, and NGK 6's.

Any way, hopefully I'll see you out there this year a few times.

Edit: Holy cow, I just noticed this came from the grave.... Started somewhere int April of 05' :)

Great times SDB!! :fawkdance
I ran several times at Muncie this last summer and fall. My GTO is totally stock M6. I made 87 passes with it and had 21 of them in the 13.7 numbers. My best time is 13.71 @102.98 MPH. If you plan on running at Muncie in 06, be sure and look me up! I will be there mostly on Wednesday evenings for the trophy races. I have 2 top 4 and 2 runner-up trophies. Need the 1st place one yet!!
