Anyone know if a set of 'universal' 5 lug pattern wheels would fit on a gto if they came off a 97 eclipse ?
I have a brand new set of wheels and tires on my mitsu, and I would benefit more if they were on my gto. I've owned 7 eclipses, and swore I would always have one, but now that I have this gto (4 days now) I'm thinking of selling the eclipse ! :cartman:

We can use wheels off the BMW 3-series though.

Well that sucks. I think my wheels only go up to 115.4 or something like that.
Since this is a rwd car, are rwd wheels needed, or do I look for fwd wheels with an odd offset ?

You can use FWD rims, alot of people "perfer" the staggered setup.

Stock offset is +48, people usually adapt go out to +35, no further

Correct me if im wrong but the staggered setup is say 17's front and 18's rear ?
Sorry for being ignorant, im used to awd cars which need all 4 wheels/tires to be the same.

yes, they can be different sizes, no don't have to be staggered is normall 8.5 (width) in the front, 9 or 9.5 in the rear. Tire widths are up to you. People normally run 235/245 up front and 265/275 in the back with fender rolled in the back.

Check out the wheel gallery for more information: https://ishare.ucr.edu/larry/Public/GTO/wheels/ind ex.html

Then PM the username you see next to the car.

I'll check that out. Right now my car has 275/45/17 nitto 555r tires and I am 95% sure the fenders are not rolled. Does this sound right ?
However the front tires are balding on the outside, but have perfectly new tread on the middle. Perhaps the fenders were rubbing? I figured the car just needed an alignment, so I made the last guy do it before I bought the car.

275 Nitto's on the back with no fender rolling is normal on the 17" rim.

bald on the outside? hmm? might want to check the inside also for strut rub.

Do a search on here for "strub rub" and you will see what I am talking about.

Good luck with the new (to you) GTO!

Diamond Star Motors. Joint partnership between Mitsubishi and Chrysler.
Similar to the GM / Holden partnership.
Just don't want to get into a pissing war but the 4g63 motors in the turbo eclipses are probably the stoutest 4cyls ever made. From a 215hp from the factory 4 banger, that can take 600hp safely on the stock bottom end, and a risky 800hp that says alot.
While not having reviewed them I think the only better 4 cyl is the newly released evo x engine.
I love my eclipse. Its turbo and its drop top. Its also faster than my stock gto. BUT it took me *alot* of time and money to get it there and I honestly don't feel safe in a convertable hauling ass.

But I like to say DSM = Dump Some Money cause something is always breaking. But I love em anyway ;)

the right offsets for the gto in 18 inch wheel size is 38mm for a 18x8 1/2 front and 51mm for a 18x9 1/2 rear.thats what fikse wheels said are right and thats what i'm rolling on.

Anything "universal" is code for Generic. The last thing these GTOs can take is generic, if you want your car to look nice and drive nice. Not to mention, if you have the correct tire size on the Eclipse, it isn't the correct tire size for the GTO.
Best advice to you would be to sell the eclipse wheels and start from scratch with the GTO
