View Full Version : Two questions: Nitrogen and Tire Fitment

Question 1: When I bought my wheels my tires were filled with nitrogen. Would it be ok to just fill it up with regular air since it is mostly nitrogen anyway? Or do I have to deflate the SOBs and inflate them again?
Question 2: My tires don't extend all the way to the edge of the wheel lip, is that normal? It's kind of hard to explain and I'm at work (can't post pics) but there is a tiny gap between the edge of the rim and where the tire sidewall starts. ANyone ever experience this? I got my wheels from wheelmax with nankang tires.
Thanks for your help fellas...

2. This is because you got 265s vs. 275

Using regular air is fine. Pure nitrogen might be useful in extreme applications (racing 220 MPH around Indy) but on the street I doubt you could tell any difference.

You can fill up with regular air no problem. The only benefit for DD with full N is the molecules are a little bigger so they don't leak out as quick. I can't unde3rstand your second question.

they aren't wide enough,on my rims if i put a 265 its in from the lip but with 275 its out past the lip.which really helps with curbs.not that i know anything about that i swear!

my G6 came from the dealership with nitrogen in the tires, all the good of it is that they dont deflate as fast lol.

not bad actually, my G6 is the DD and it feels no different than regular air, its just it keep psi for alot longer and temps dont affect it as much.
