I have seen so many posts asking about wheel fitment that it is obvious there are many members who do not understand the subject. If you are looking at a particular set of wheels with the right bolt pattern but different offsets and you want to know what fits and what not, then this is for you:

http://aolsearch.aol.com/aol/redir?src=websearch&requestId=1650ffc293d89adf&clickedItemRank=2&userQuery=wheel+offset&clickedItemURN=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.1010tires.com%2FWh eelOffsetCalculator.asp&title=%3Cb%3EWheel+Offset%3C%2Fb%3E+Calculator&moduleId=matchingsites.jsp.M&clickedItemPageRanking=2&clickedItemPage=1&clickedItemDescription=WebResults

Once you know how the wheel offset moves the proposed wheel relative to both the strut and the fender all you need is to go to your car and measure how much space you have available with your OEM wheels.

The problem is not will the wheel rub, but will the tire rub. Most of us are running tires that are wider (section width of the tire)than the rim. I could probably fit a 9.5 "rim on the front if I wanted to run a 215 tire. A 265-35-18 has a section width of 10.7", with a 45mm offset rim that puts 7.12'' inside & 3.58" out. Same tire with a rim of 50mm offset puts 7.32" inside & 3.38" out. The rim width is not the concern it is strictly the offset & the tire section width.
