View Full Version : Good Price for OEM 18s?

Was wondering what a good price for an 'excellent condition' set of stock 18 inch wheels would be? I haven't been following things in the Parts for Sale area and could use some feedback other than "Use the Search, you fool", unless someone could give me advice on good search terms to use for this topic and that POS search capability we have...

Edit:

I'm hoping to find pristine stock 18 inchers somewhere in the midwest to reduce/eliminate shipping charges...

Wow, wish I could've found them for that.

I bought a set off of a car with 500ish miles. Rims and tires perfect for $1200 picked up. Went a different route and sold them for the same.

I wonder what a mint set of authentic Chrome 17's would go for with a healthy set of tires on?

500-600, and that would be high. Nobody wants them.

you fool....

search is your friend.....

Fine, please give me advice on good search terms to use for this topic - I dare you; believe me, I've tried and tried and....

:search: sucks on these bulletin boards - you can't even search for a specific phrase by enclosing in quotes or any of the other tricks that are pretty standard for search engines these days...

Excellent, nice find. But, aren't these reconditioned wheels? And, I'm not sure where you got $875 from 4 x $225, unless there's some special discount? When I put 4 of them in my cart, I get $900 + $72 shipping = $972.

What does everyone think of this deal?

Thanks!

Craigslist people. It is where you go when ebay and the classifieds get out of hand.

You have to have patience though.

I paid 700 for mine with three good tires and one bald one. The Rims were in excellent condition.

I then scored a set of 255 35 18 RE050 Run flats with 95% tread for the back for 35 bucks each. Those tires are 300+ bucks each new.

Only drawback? my conscience won't let me destroy those back tires at will. Yup, I am a professional cheapskate. :(

For the chrome 17s, I tried getting $500 for them and everybody was trying to lowball me. I ended up trading 2 of them for a set of perfect 18s with tires and selling the other two for something like $200-300.

I got lucky though, but $900 is a good deal on a set of 18s w/tires.

I think I would agree that $900 w/ tires would be a good deal, but the Finish Line Wheels thing is just for the wheels :( However, if the wheels are perfect, off the showroom floor quality, then I might consider it. I would rather help someone on the board or acquire from a sponsoring vendor, tho...

I wish I could do that. ;)

Thanks for the advice; looks like you scored a great deal and it worked out well for you. I haven't even bothered with eBay, and I barely even know what craigslist is. I'd rather help someone on the board or buy from a sponsoring vendor, first... I'm really in no hurry for these wheels; not sure how badly I'll be raped for taxes this year, and my car is in storage and won't be driven for at least another month, I'd say - dam Iowa, I hate it here!

Well, I have patience, but I don't have the time to spare to be searching everywhere for a great deal on these wheels. My time is worth more than saving a few dollars here and there; besides, it's all relative, who's to say what should or shouldn't be spent? The person spending it, I say.

I will, however, try to give craigslist a chance; I might even venture back into the jungle that is eBay and try not to get los - oh, look, there goes a bunny! :bunny:

Last year, I jumped on a set of stock 18's with only 3000 original miles on them. Included the excellent tires, lugs and caps.

Paid $1050.00, traveled for free on the company truck.

Currently they are setting in the storage rack, waiting patiently until my factory 18's are burnt off, then replacing those with stickies. Swap as needed.

I know what you mean man. Like I said before, I am a professional cheapskate. Go into craigslist from your area and type in GTO on the main page search.

It takes 30 seconds to a minute is all. Do it twice a day and poof. you will score stuff.

I tell you what I don't understand, why are so many of these wheels curbed all to hell? Seems like most every set in here or elsewhere has some kind of decent lip damage. :(

I think what it is is that the stock tires on the stock 18s do not provide much if any protection for the rim. That being said, I even managed to slightly curb rash one of my stock 17s :whine:
And, to paraphrase Murphy, shite happens...

Hey, I went to public school that whole adding things confuses and frightens me. And I think these are either reconditioned or third party knockoffs. The OEM 18" are made by Enkei. Don't know about these supposedly "new" ones.

Don't be afraid, I got your back!

Here's the word from the Finish Line folks:

"They are refinished to Like New Condition, but these have been very hard to find, had a couple sets sold last week,
but unfortunately could not fill.
I think we have some in chrome, but no silver at this time,
if you are looking later next week, check back again and we can check stock."
