I tried this via PM, but your box is full:

I saw a post of yours a while back that showed your car with 9.5" wheels on all corners. I tried to pull that thread up again but it seems the pics are gone now. I saw that you work at a wheel shop, and I'm looking for some assistance. I'm looking at preparing my GTO for road racing competition so I need to meet certain criteria. The rules allow for a 17x9.5" max wheel; you can see now why I'm interested in how you got 9.5" wheels to fit on the front. Considering the fact the stock wheels have about 5.9" of backspace based on a 48mm offset, and there's little if no room inside of that--I figure a 9.5" wheel will need around a 30mm offset. Is this close to what you used?

[Edit] I went back and re-read your second thread and caught the offsets I think you said worked. I think you said that with a 275 front tire you needed 40mm offset wheel with 5mm spacer, is that correct? I will be running 275 40 17's so I guess I was pretty close with my 30mm offset guess?[End edit]

Can you give any further info on what worked and what didn't. If I remember correctly on your post, you mentioned trying a few different wheels.

There may be other options as well. The SCCA CRB has been petitioned to allow the GTO to use an alternate smaller diameter spring kit which will allow an easier fit for the 9.5" wheel. However, this has not been approved yet, and I am exploring options in case it does not.

Thanks,

These have an offset of about 40mm. They aren't labeled and I bought them used. They were supposed to be 51mm offset. The front rims touch the shock tower without any tires on them. My guess is a minimum of 30mm but more like 25mm would give you the clearance.

As you can see, they will stick way out past the fenders.

Wow, that's with a 40mm offset? Those really seem to stick out for a 40mm offset. And they touched the strut? This is a pic of the 9.5" rims off my T/A that I trial fitted on the GTO.

They don't look like they stick out nearly as far as yours do. What I did was kept stacking 3/16" spacers until the wheel/tire no longer rubbed the strut (no worries, I didn't drive it like that, the spacers were for trial fitment only). Problem is the wheels pictured were custom ordered 4 years ago and I can't remember what offset they are. I guess I'll have to pull one back off the T/A and measure the backspacing.

As I said earlier, They are supposed to be 51mm which would bring them in even more. They also look like they stick out even more with the suspension hanging.

If anyone is interested in buying these rims for $500 for all 4, just pm me. They normally sell for $400-$500 each and have never been road driven.

What is the sizing on those wheels edgz? Are they 9.5" all around? And would they fit with small spacers then?

Yes 9.5" all around. The rims don't touch the shocks until they are tightened all the way, so 10mm spacers should do it as long as you don't try to put a huge tire on it. If you stay with 245s then you might get away with 5mm spacers. The spacers will be relevant to what size tire your putting on.

BTW, these rims are forged one piece and they weigh only 730 grams. That's about 35 grams lighter than my 18" AZA Z-1s. I can't recall the exact weight of my AZA Z-1s but I remember comparing the stamped weight and I was surprised to see that the 19's are lighter than the 18's.
