Im going to order some hsv 18 inch wheels tomorrow. Ive been reading and reading about using the 245/40/18 or the 235/40/18 tires. I really want to go with BF goodrich kdw's with the new tread design.

I was wondering, since the overall height of the wheel and tire will be smaller than stock, is my spedometer going to be off? Is there a way to select some option in the computer this since in the owners manual it specifically has the 235/40/18 tire for the 18 inch wheel option?

I would rather go with the 245s because wider is better IMO. But I dont want to rub on the strut. I can easily cut some spacers on a waterjet we have here at my school, but I dont know if its good to use them either.

Any comments would help, I guess I can order the tires after I get my wheels, but I really want to have everything set for when they get here. Thanks in advance.

245/40 are the same height as stock, and 235/40 is only a smidgen shorter, so no worries.

If it were "me", I'd go the 245/40 route and get spacers (and new lugs depending on the side of the spacer), but that's just me. 235/40 is your "safe bet".
