So I was washing my gto the other day and noticed (after checking the tread on the tires) that the first tire I checked (the front right) has noticeably less tread than the other three. After checking the first, I got worried quick thinking that I was wearing my tires down really fast (only have 10K on the car and drive it 'easier than most'), but after checking the final 3, they all had good grab/nice tread on them. I even pulled the penny out for a point of reference and the front right tire has a good 1/8 less tread than the others.

I rotated my tires at 7K, that's all I've done to them. Is my alignment possibly out of whack?? I don't notice any pulling/shimmering or any symptons.....what else could it be? If it's a dealer problem, I want to get it dealt with.

Give me your opinions please.

Check your tire pressure.

Is it the entire tread or just part of it?

If it's inside or outside, it could be your camber/caster...

Yes, what snafu said as well. Is the wear even across the tire?

What pressure are you running?

So when you rotated at 7k did you bring the right rear to the right front? if so and if the tread is worn evenly than i would say the wear may be from 7k miles of rear tire spin courtesy of our 350 horses under the hood!! :shiner:

the wear seems to be even, I'm going to crawl under this weekend when I'm cleaning it up to check out more.

running 350 horses, sure I guess the assumption to go with is it's from the tires spinning, but you'd think that 2 of 4 tires would be in the similar situation, correct? Tires were rotated at 7, don't know the pattern - had the dealer do it. Besides....the tires don't spin all that much on my goat. Just a few times to remember what i have, but it's not my daily driver.

I need to get the oil changed soon anyhow, pry make a trip the dealer this weekend and have them check the alignment/camber/caster. thanks for all of your help.

I'm guessing the right rear turns over more then the left rear,
because of the amount of melted rubber bits on my right rear fender compared to my left rearfender , anybody know a good way to get it off my paint?

My rear tires are near the end of their life, should I check the tire pressure on those too?

If you have not been "playing" and you are in fac getting even wear, I would cehck the alignment all the way around. GM's policy is 12 months or 7500 miles. The service manger has the abiltiy to go to 12 months or 11999 miles with his authorization

That thread has nothing to do with tread wear.

I am having a similar problem with my GTO. The passenger rear tire's tread is extremely low compared to the other three tires. I rarely spin my tires, and the car only has 8,000 miles on it. How long do the stock tires go for?

Just had my tired rotated @ 4500 miles or so. My passenger rear has MUCH less tread then my other 3 tires do.
