Anyone have any experience with these. Are toyos good tires for our cars. I got a quote from a local tire shop for $628 out the door. I like that price but, if the tires are crap forget about it. I am replacing the literally brand new Riken Raptors which I put on the car maybe 4 months ago. THEY S**CK the worst thing about them is the vibration at highway speeds. I took the car back three times to rebalance and still the same thing. I basically threw money in the garbage. Any input on the toyos is appreciated, I was looking to go with Michellin Ps2 but obviously those are up there in price and local shops do not really stock them.

Toyos are good tires, but the proxes 4 suck. I had them on another car before, the sidewall is VERY soft which is nice if you aren't into "spirited" driving. However, after about 5k on them, they started to ROAR and the wet weather traction became nonexistent. I would spin my wheels in a puddle, in a FWD honda. It was ridiculous. The T1R's are supposed to be nice, but the Proxes 4 will never be on a car of mine again.

I agree with soonergto about the Proxes being a crappy tire

also the Rikens are a cheap tire and suck also, they are on par with Falkens and other low grade performance tires. when you are paying almost the same money for four tires as most people are paying for two, you have to ask yourself why they can sell them so cheap?

Falken and Dunlop are both made by Sumitomo in Japan, and neither is really a "low-grade" tire.

Check out the Falken FK-452 at tires-easy.com.

thanks for all the info, oh well back to square one. I cannot beleive all the headaches for such a simple task. I just want the freakin car not to vibrate when I am cruisin on the highway at 80+. I am willing to plunk down the $$$ on some Ps2's but the only shop that carries them locally is the same a**h*les that sold me the Raptors and I am never giving them my business again. Anyone in the South Florida area know of a good tire shops. Tire Kingdom has the BFgoodRich KDW's how about those ?

I had a good experience with the proxy 4's on my 1990 Celica. I had a lot of suspension work done with brakes and larger wheels. The proxy's I got at a discount for the shop I worked for and I couldn't have been happier. I didn't have any traction issues or noise problems and they balanced perfect. I drove it for about 10,000 miles and then sold it with over 200,000 on the clock.

But I'm just one person.

I currently have Toyo Proxys on mine (came from the dealer with them) and there is absolutely no vibrations no matter if you are going 30 or 100.
I cant say how they compare with others for traction because i havent had expierence with another set yet. I can say that if i want to lay down rubber i can do it easily, and sometimes if you are gassing it to jump across the intersection it does not always have the grip you need.

I have a set of Nittos on the way for the back because i had a little accident and needed to replace 2 tires so soon i will be able to tell you how traction compares to others.

I honestly probably would have bought 2 more toyos to go on my car, but i got a great deal on the Nittos so that is why i went with them.

Hope that helps

Are yours the Proxes 4's though? I know Toyo makes lots of different proxes.

What do you guys think about the BFgoodrich KDW ? Is there even a comparison to the Michellin Ps2. I love the look of the KDW very nice & aggresive. @ $165 a tire not as bad as $200+ for the Ps2. Aye my head is spinning in circles cannot make up my mind :drink:

I like my Proxes 4's. Loose on launch for sure, sticky in the turns without question.

I've got them and I like them. They seem to hook pretty well as long as I'm only at about 3k and dump then gradually mash it. I dont have much to compare them to on this car besides the stock 17's which were complete shit. But I used to have Bridgestone Potenzas on my Z28 (pretty good tire but expensive) and also sumotomo's and they sucked. Overall I would definitely buy another set for the price, and they have good treadwear numbers so long as you aren't roasting them off at every light.
