No drag radial is good in rain, but the best compromise for street/strip usage is probably Nitto.

What size would fit on the stock 17 in wheel

You can squeeze a 275-40-17 onto the stock wheel, but it's a little wide for only a 8" wheel. A lot of people run the 275 Nitto. If you want to run a track only drag radial, then get Mickey Thompson, they hook better. I used 275 Nittos on a pair of stock wheels last year at the track, but the edges of the tire get pulled down by the narrow rim, so you don't really use the full width of the tread. I got 17X9 wheels this year and plan on running M/T 275-40-17, but I won't be running them on the street (other than going back and forth to the drag strip). Nitto makes a 555R drag radial in 245-45-17 and 275-40-17 sizes. Pick your poison.

plain and simple you WILL kill yourself or wreck if take a DR on the street in the rain especially if its heavy rain with standing water...plus you wouldnt wanna drive them everyday b\c of the horrible wear, but I have kdw2 and they seem to do quiet nice for me but mine is not a dd so they have never seen rain , or really anything that is not perfect weather

Honestly I have had great luck with the Nitto 275/17 on the rear. They last me about 1 yr on my daily driver. I live in SW FL, plenty of rain. Front tire tread (I think) is more important. My modest GTO makes just over 400 at the wheels, and the DRs hold it well. The stock tires were like ice skating even on dry pavement. I think that was more cause for alarm. The 275s Nitto will rub slightly on a high speed turn, a draw back. The only other negative is sticky tires are hard on the clutch and mine is going. These tires are only about $160 too, cheap.
