Is it just me, or do these tires have really weak sidewalls. I replaced my bad BFG's with the generals in stock size 2 weeks ago, and the car really feels unstable at highway speed. Car was aligned twice cause I was sure it was an alignment problem, both both times they said the alignment was right on. Just making minor steering adjustments at highway speed makes the car feel like the steering has a delayed reaction. The steering feedback is really terrible. Anyone else experience this and found a resolution? Or do I need to throw these tires out and spend what I should have for tires.

The tires are at 35 PSI cold as it is. I doubt thats the problem.

Pretty common issue. I run mine at 38 or 40 psi. The only drawback is you are going to have slightly faster wearing on the center. Well worth it to me to make sure they don't roll over in the corners. Keeping them at 40 psi I still got 30k+ miles out of them, vice 19 for my stockers (though my stockers were victims of strut rub).

+1 mine are at 40psi in the front, 38 in the rear. It feels much tighter on the freeway. Although, it could be attributed to the Pedders Track II setup. hmmm

I'll try bumping up the pressure and see how it feels.

My UHPs are stock sized 245/45-17s. I set mine to 40 F 35 R. Seems to be fine. They need more psi in the front or they feel a little sloppy, especially in a cross wind.

I usually run mine around 37-38psi front, 33-35psi rear. Works great, as no matter how much I air them up they still ride better than the stock tires at 33.

I have the 18" tires UHP and run 34 psi front and 36psi back. They are much softer than the stock tires you can feel the delayed reaction during steering but I do not feel unsafe, just not as good as the expensive tires.

I've had 245/18s for almost 8k miles now. I love them. They are far superior to the stock bfgs. Just put some more air in them....

No issues with mine so far, the rears are nearly gone after 20,000 miles of abuse. i run 40 psi all the way around.

I also have the UHP's and the I'm running 46 F and 42 R. When I originally got them the tire place inflated them to 30 psi, man it was awful. According to the General's website these tires are good for up to 51 psi. I've put about 12k on mine since they have been 46 and 42. They are much better cornering.

seriously, when they buy parts for their car that are much cheaper than the known good stuff costs, why do they think they are getting some great deal that no one else knows about?
you get what you pay for

Not necessarily. The wet traction is better than any tire I've ever owned. And the dry traction is much much better than the BFG's that came with the car. And those are like $160 a tire to replace.

Yeah, not sure that's always true. If I buy a tire at list price from a Goodyear dealer is it better than the one I buy from Tire Rack or Discount Tire for 40-50% less?

yes, it's not always true, but I think you understand what I'm talking about anyway

This is one of the cases where it's not true, but you're right. Often it is true. These are excellent tires, they just need higher air pressures than the stockers. Even at 32psi they grip much better in the corners than stock, with more air they just get better.
