I got the springs and new tires on today. IF anyone wants me to write up the installation I can.
King Springs:
-The installations wasn't bad 2/5
-The ride quality is amazing, the right heights front and rea. The springs are just stiff enough. For the price I don't think you can beat them.
Ruff Racing 278.
-I think they look AMAZING
-DO NOT GO WITH 245s in the font. They are too tall compared to the rears. You can actually see that they are taller even though the overall diameter, is less then .25in different.
-GET ALL RIMS SHAVED. They stick out about the same amount front and rear. I'm 92.69% sure if I left the stock springs in I would rub in the front.
-I do not have any rub front or rear
-I don't have any balance issues. I torqued hand tight 3 times around. 50ft lbs twice. 70ft lbs twice. 90 ft. lbs. twice, then 95 ft lbs...guess how many times. I also installed the hub rings.
ALl in all I think the setup is a 9/10. IF they were ccw's it would be 10/10.
Heres the back saggy springs, before the install.

I'll try to get some side shots so you can see the difference in tire height.
Thanks for viewing the BRAZEN BIATCH

I'm sure the fact that he ran 265/35/18's is the reason the fronts looked taller. The standard if you want the Front/Rear's to look the same is 235(40)/265(35) or the more popular but rub prone 245(40)/275(35) combo.

are my tires wearing down in the middle in the rear because of sag? I need all the help i can get because i am running out of money and not getting the right help from my mecanic!
how stiff are king springs as far as road feel is concerned, bumps etc

Groundradio2 is completely right. here are the tire demensions.
235/40/18 = 25.4 in dia.
245/40/18 = 25.7in dia.
265/35/18 = 25.3in dia.
275/35/18 = 25.6in dia.
So his two recommended setups would be best.
As for the wearing in the middle of the rear tires. This traditionally has been because of over inflation. Rear tires should be 39psi and fronts should be 36psi.
I think I fixed my rear inside tire wear, that was due to saggy springs. The camber of the rears looks allot better now.
To answer BA83, the springs feel amazing. Not harsh at all. However the car feels ten times more stable. The springs are still stiff enough that I don't get any rub. Like I said before I'm currently more worried about the front then the rear. The rears look good and I cut my fenders. But with my poor tire selection upfront, I'm a little worried how it will work overtime.
If I were to do it again, I'd get 235 front and 265 rear.

Tires wearing in the middle means your tire pressure is too high.

Lower your tire pressure and never bring your car to that mechanic again. It's common knowledge that tires will wear on the **inside** more if they're over inflated. Your mech is squeezing you.

I have the pedders touring package on the car now. The one thing that bothers me is that everytime i start to move there is a creaking noise coming from the back end of the car. The last time I heard that sound was before I had the pedders on and it was coming from the front. When I took it to the mecanic he took off the front tires and there was wearing on the inside front tire.

I checked the rear tire pressure and they were 35psi. Now what do I do?

Witner, sometimes you get creaks from poly bushes. However, if you heard the same sound before and it was rubbing, I would lift the car and check all of the tires for rubbing.
If when you say start top move, you mean under pretty hard acceleration tire rub would make sense. However if it's under normal acceleration i would think its a bushing. You could try to lube stuff up a bit. A little lube never hurts...
Your best bet is to contact one of the Pedders guys, like FRank. They are awesome with this stuff.

I have contacted pedders themselves and they basically said the same thing. Does anyone know of a good and trustworthy garage in the pittsbugh area? (Buy the way my tire size is 245/45/17.)

Trusty-worthy garage is an oxymoron.

Thank you for your help. I need all the help I can get. Everytime I go to save some money to get some mods I end up having to put it right back into the suspension.

You barely notice them being much stiffer than shock. You still keep a very nice ride, it's just far more controlled and less floaty.
I love the King springs. I have the King HDs up front, but I pulled my rear King HDs out in favor of Pedders 1/2" drop springs with a 10mm spacer and prefer the ride and handling in the rear of the Pedders. With the King springs in the rear the back end would come around quick, but the car is far more balanced with the Pedders in the rear (lower ride height, slightly softer spring I believe, so the rear sticks a bit more + rides a little smoother as well).
To me the King 1/2" drop HDs up front and Pedders 1/2" drop springs in the rear with a 10mm spacer was what got me to where I wanted to be for ride height, ride quality, and handling for when I go autocrossing.

Thanks man. :)
Have you pushed the car hard with the Kings on all four corners yet? Notice a tendency for the car to oversteer heavily? What shocks/struts are you running?
ElCidAviator
03-26-2008, 10:07 PM
Yeah I actually noticed exactly that. It felt a little more like understeer, but then once it grabs it's like instant oversteer. I ran this on ramp that I usually can take at 110, but I was a little nervous around 90. I still haven't worn through the new on the tires, so I didnt want to push it.
That's funny you mentioned that.
Still running stock struts and shocks.
