I have done some research on weldcraft as well as a few members who have widened their wheels. I was wanting to make a 245 / 275 combination on the oem 18 wheels. Here is the info I'm gathered as far as making that happen. I personally have stock suspension where as most members who have done this have changed theirs. (Factory 18's)

1st the fronts have to have a spacer to make 245's.......fit correct?

2nd the rear widened an 1.0in to a 9.0 in rear wheel. It can then fit a 275 tire which will require custom fitment as the rear will have to rolled as well as finding anything else that rubs?

I was wondering has anyone considered shaving the wheels on the rear and or front in attempts to make them fit better? If I understand shaving correctly if I shave the hub 3mms or so it will increase the offset of the wheels?

I keep on going back and forth on options for wheels and I really love the factory wheels.

Can anyone chime in on the best way to attempt to make a staggered setup?

why not just run a 275 tire in the back without changing the wheel size? Im not sure how much of a difference there is between the 18s and the 17s. Im running a 245 falken in the front and a 275 nitto 555r in the back on the stock 17s and have no issues. The 275s mushroom a little, but they do not look bad.

I've actually seen that post but it didn't mentioned three things I'm looking for as far as information. Shaving the wheels to help in the install front or rear. Second the spacers in the front to install 245's. Since You can't put 245's on the 18 there is no space it will rub the strut. I've seen the car on the lift and it would diffently rub without the spacer. While the rear you could massage to make fit without rolling the fender. Finally I have stock suspension which is a different setup than the post.

As far as putting 275's on the rear without widening them. Its not recommended for the an 8in wheel. Have you seen a difference in handling with your current 245/ 275 setup you have on there now? Don't the nittos run narrow?

You got it backwards. Shaving the wheel does increase offset, but that isn't what you want. Widening the wheel only adds material to the back side, thus leaving the outside in the same spot but making the inboard side grow an inch when it's mounted on the car. All your rubbing will be on the inner side of the fender, not the outer like most people with aftermarket wheels. Certain 275s might work with a stock wheel widened to 9in, but a lot won't. That's where you need a spacer to push the wheel out away from the shock. And for the front, you may be able to fit a 245 right now without strut rub. If it does rub, then you need a spacer to bring the fronts out a little too.

Before the nitto drag radials, I was runnig a 275 falken ze 512 and they were about 3/4" narrower than the nittos. Yes I did notice a difference in the handling between the two, but the nittos are a drag tire. The handling is a little sloppy in the rear with the nittos, but the falkens handled well all around, rain or shine. The oe tires that were on the car when I bought it didn't last past 10000 miles. The falkens handled about as well as them, and I got about 15000 miles out of them.
