I grinded another set of fender lips today. This time for Adam. We also put rear springs on at the same time. Pedders 5/16 raise. Just had to unbolt the bottom of the shock, pit some weight on the hub, and a prybar on and off. Easy job really. The wheels are Ruff 280 19's with a 275/35 in the rear. No rubbing with the grind and springs. Here are a few shots. Also a few pics of my new wheels. Ruff 278 in hyper black. Not as dark as I wanted, but still looks good in my opinion. Thanks for the help with the springs Todd.

Thanks for all your help Carl and Todd! The whole process went very smoothly. The wheels look fantastic! The springs worked great with eliminating any sort of rub. They also reduce wheel hop and give me more clearance for the Spintech side exhaust that will be installed next week. If you need some help with a fender grind in the future I'm up for it.

Get a load of this Adam...Carl just stood on the hub and bounced, while my busted knuckles were in there with the prybar tugging on the springs.:gr_jest:

and also wanted to say your welcome for me telling you had an oil leak, helping you find it, cleaning your skid plate, and making sure the problem was corrected.

So did you do just the springs? The rear of my 05 QSM squats a good bit so i'm thinking that with 37,000 miles on stock springs might be time to upgrade to bring the car back to stock height...didn't wanna do anything that would make it look jacked up but from your pics both car look like they sit the proper height..... OR do you think I might just need the Standard 0" drop springs for the rear?

Springs and fender lip grind. He has 19's while mine are 18's. Adam also said the springs help to eliminate some of his wheel hop problem. I have not had any experience with the 0 drop, but I know the 5/16 raise solved my problem and still looks good.

with the zero drop springs, and all the weight taken out of my car it wheel hopped like mad and it sat almost higher than that car.....I took the zero drops out for 1/2 inch drop. If you haven't lightened your car at all, you should be fine though.

I have a set of staggered wheels coming in this week some time. I'm ok with a little grinding, but if i have to raise the rear suspension, they are going right back on sale. I will not raise the car. I've never raised any vehicle i've ever owned, and its sure aint gonna start with the goat :)

hahaha. I did A LOT of research before ordering the ones i did. I'd be very surprised if they don't fit with very minor grinding. But you never know.....

LOL, my staggered wheels are coming in tomorrow according to the tracking so I'm hoping they fit after grinding the fenders, my new 1/2 drop springs, and a really good alignment since the one at Ted weins vegas pedders store was so off its not funny.

Just as it sounds. Rolling bends or curls the fender and or fender lips. Grinding just grinds or cuts off the lips. You can never un-roll a rolled fender so why not just grind the lip off. I have done quite a few now and you can not tell its been done. Just make sure to paint the areas that were cut with some touch up paint.

If done right, rolling the fender lip is great, but I've heard too many stories of cracked paint and dimpled metal. I have a 4" angle grinder, so that's what I did. Worked for me. Can you get by with zero drop Pedders springs? Yes, if you don't go too big with the tire.
I have M/T 275-40-17 ET Street drag radials on my car along with +5/16 drag springs and used the grinder to remove about half the lip. Looks like lots of room in the wheelwell, right?

Look what happens when it launches at the dragstrip. It hasn't rubbed yet, but it sure don't look like much room to spare.
