Just had mine put on last Friday. They were on sale for $104/ea from discount tire direct and I needed rubbers in a hurry but I am without paycheck, so this had to do.
Tread looks great. Fitment is great. But even at 36psi cold they have a nasty squirm and wobble! What gives? I mean the sidewall feels as mushy as my f-ing BFG drag radials did. It doesn't feel safe to drive above 80mph and I am getting PISSED! :eek2:
Has anyone here run these tires on any vehicle?
Please no one flame me for being cheap I just switched jobs am flat broke right now and the 255/40R18 Falken RT-615 Azenis these replaced were a phenomenal tire but only lasted 6months because of how I drive.
Here are the Nankangs: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireD etail.do?cs=245&pc=49567&rd=18&ar=40
They received good reviews from everyone but the snowy northerners (no concern to me) and yes, they are only H-speed rated to 130mph but that is where I usually shut her down anyway.
Please help if you can. I just want to get this resolved quickly so I can drive Porkchop hard again! -mcs

i don't know what to say, except if u are on a budget, General Exclaim uhp are the BEST tires for the LEAST amount of money u can get($140 a piece for 275/19s). if u can't get the issues u have with these resolved, try some UHPs. i don't know of anyone who is disappointed with them or has had problems.

Thanks Ellis!
I just pumped my Reebok tires up to 43psi tonight (cold-ish...max is 45)...they were at 36 and wobbled in the knees like Ali in a comeback fight. Haven't driven on them enough to tell but it feels a little better. I could still see the car squeam when I close the door those s**ty tires let it rock back and forth and I didn't even shut the door hard! I feel so duped.
I priced the General UHPs they are $118/ea from tirerack in a 245/40R18 size. I paid $104 for the Nankangs they looked and sounded promising and the tread pattern is PERFECT for wet weather days here in centex.
I just feel bad because my Azenis were only $167/ea and I know they would have lasted longer than 6months if I hadn't 'enjoyed' them so much!
Anyone else have feedback on these tires?... -mcs

I'm sorry to hear about the tires, but I see too many of those shitty tires going on nice cars. I work in a tire shop and it seems like every person in a bmw or mercedes buys those tires and has nothing but problems since they are very cheap tires. Like the previous posters mention try getting the exclaims. I have yet to hear a complaint about them.

I wouldn't have flamed you for being cheap, if that's all you could afford, but if you have no money to buy good tires, why the hell would you be driving in a way that would burn them up quicker than you could afford to buy new ones? and now you say you want to drive these hard too and you still have no paycheck coming in?:dunno:
safety items should never be cheaped out on! those are legitimate reasons to use a charge card for your purchase

Welp...China. And a 130mph tire is going to have a soft sidewall and feel squirmy. Try putting them at 40psi all around and see what happens.

i have nankang ULTRA SPORT NS-11 235/40 R18 95H M+S that came with the car..
havent noticed anything too crazy, even drove around with 3-5 inches of snow over frozen ice without killing myself for a week
BTW how did someone suggest 275 tires.. how would these ever fit on our cars, especially given out strut issue, without rolling the fenders? isnt the width what matters thats bothering the struts?

Too late. I drove the Azenis easy towards the second half of their life as I saw this day coming...made them last as long as I could but ask anyone who has run them: under real performance driving (not necessarily burnouts and fishtailing), they are a 6-month tire. :shiner:
And not that it's 'any a yo biz,' but I paid with my 0% interest Discount Tire card, though I would give my left nut to be able to return these for a credit towards some better shoes!

Ahead of you as well...43psi in both now. Feels firmer but still squirmy-ish especially above 90mph. Noisy and choppy riding as well. These tires should never have been DOT approved!
I miss my Azenis like Joanie misses Chochy...
