I will say that these seem to be a popular tire, and are the tire I'm going with when I get my wheels.

Take a look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sports I got about 1000 miles on mine and absolutely love em. Great all around tire. here's a video showing how good the wet traction is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffZLKa5qsfU

i've just gone through my first set of General UHPs...

they are a softer compound than i had expected so the wear isn't that great.
I've gotten about 12k out of them in a year's worth of driving(semi-daily).

i've found the sidewalls to be a bit more flexy than i like, so hard cornering feels a bit spongy and not all that confidence-inspiring. aside from that, both dry and wet traction even in colder temps is fairly good for such an inexpensive tire.

with that said, i'll tell you that i'm gonna be ordering another set of UHPs with my stimulus rebate check from the govt. :D

I've got them and love them. I have a full review you can read through if you want. The soft sidewalls can be fixed by airing the fronts up to 40psi or so, and the only abnormal wear on mine is from doing burnouts. The wet traction is amazing, and I haven't lost traction in the dry except when I wanted to. No more rear-end shimmy when I hit 2nd, it just chirps and goes. I'll definitely buy another set when these wear out.

Agree 100% on the flexy sidewalls. It is a noticiable change when switching from another tire brand. I do find wet weather traction to be acceptable. I got about 20,000 miles on my 30 series 19 inch rear tires before they were toast.

looks like from your original post price is an issue for you, and because of that I have this advice for you...GET THEM..lol, they are a great tire for the price. Wet traction is surprisingly good, dry is excellent. They are pretty soft, however, I agree with the previous post. I have ~6k on them and look like they have about 6k left. Great tire.

good tip, i'll be sure to air em up more. thanks.

...i'm also deep in thought about getting a pedders street II setup on there for the new tires to enjoy... deciding whether or not too is agonizing!! :eyetwitch:

Track II 0 drop is treating the Exclaim UHPs well.......3k miles, going quite well for a daily driver!

I purchased the Exclaim UHP for my first set when I bought my used GTO. I thought they were good tires at first They didn't last that long and as the tread wore down, so did their ability to grip. I started fish-tailing pretty badly with them after about 15,000 miles.

I went with the Bridgestone Potenza about 6 months ago. As soon as I took the car for a drive I realized the UHP tires aren't a good tire, just an average tire with a good price.

My car is a daily driver as well and IMO your better off to go with a better tire even if it costs more. You will probably get more useful mileage out of them making the price a moot point.

I think I would echo what you said. Now that my UHP's have worn down after a year of use, the grip has gone away, even thought there is still decent tread left. Not bad for the $85 price. They were definitely gripper than the much more expensive KDW sports I had before, and certainly better than the OEM tires.

Good tire for the price. I'm at 15,000 miles and will need to replace them soon (DD, couple dozen drag strip passes, regular rotation). I hated them at first, but as they broke in they became much better. Agreed on the cornering feel and wet traction mentioned above.

IMO, if you're looking for a DD tire that offers decent performance at a good price, look no further. If you want long treadwear or high performance, then keep looking.

I'd buy these tires again.
