I've been talking to different manufacturer's and am really curious to know what everyone wants for their cars. I'll share my list:

CV8-R or Kenesis Wheels
Nitto 245's for the front and 275 555-r's for the back
Fitted Car Cover
Pro 5.0 Shifter
Custom long tube headers going to the flanges on the catback (removing cats)
Silver faced gauge overlays if the yellow doesnt look right
Dash gauge pod

All of the above plus:

Insert for lower facia opening - something more distinctive but tasteful
CAI
Cowl hood - again distintive but tastefull

One last thing. Something to make it go twice as fast that costs around $13.78. (That's what I got on me right now)

- Heated seats

- Heated outside mirrors

- Awesome Stereo

- Trip computer

- Electric controlled Moonroof

- Lotsa HP

- I like the headers idea

I can go up to $51.15

:)

No heated seats .... the AUS and SAUDI are too warm for heated seats so there is no OEM setup :( :( :(

thats the weird thing, i have to wait to hear how this exhaust sounds ... apparantly its 80db with a tone that they spent BIG $$$ on .... right now im thinkin to ditch those 4 cats and make it a tad louder.

04 IBM GTO
09-16-2003, 07:08 PM
yeah but by ditching the 4 cats the exhaust will be a bit louder than a tad! the great addition to an aftermarket exhaust is the tips that some of the company's have and also the different tones that they all make. i have heard some if the exhaust clips of the factory exhaust and it sounds good from the clips but who knows until you hear it in person.

MR. BIGGLES WHY DO YOU TYPE ALL OF YOUR MESSAGES IN CAPITAL LETTERS? IT MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOU'RE YELLING?

Are you?

I think the sound system will be good if not door rattling loud. I'm a bit confused by the fact that Pontiac lists the system at 200w but the "same" system in the Monaro is 260w. Go figure.

It also needs an oil pressure gauge, even my 88 cavilier had on of those. I hope someone comes out with some kind of high performance panel filter type airbox instead of these crappy k&n Cone setups, I really hate k&n, they let a lot of fine dirt past them.

DevilYellow
09-19-2003, 04:24 PM
oil pressure might be in the electronic driver info center but i do agree that there needs to be a gauge

britus56
09-19-2003, 05:04 PM
A small snorkel scoop like the Trans Am had would be sweet, not too crazy but still tough looking, with a more intense fresh air intake set-up working with it. I assume the sound system is XM capable since XM is giving away a GTO and a Caddy on their radio promos. They are so proud of the exhaust that I think I'll wait and see on that, sounds good so far as much as I can tell anyway. Definitely more serious rubber, Bridgestone Potenza S-03's or Firestone Firehawk SZ50ep in a better profile so I can hook and still handle the wet. And someone mentioned the moonroof, that would be nice.

CMNTMXR57
09-19-2003, 08:02 PM
A few as mentioned;

-Heated seats
-Memory seats
-MOONROOF!!! I don't get how they cannot have that.
-The dash top gauges (with oil pressure gauge)

I don't know about the stereo, 200 watt seems a little weak especially for those of us with 500 Monsoon systems even though the Monsoon system isn't a sonic masterpiece. I hardly use it though anyway as I'm too busy listening to the soundtrack under the hood. :D

AS for the headers, I would like a setup similar to the flanges on FLP headers, off-road pipe/Y-pipe, this way it would make swapping cats in and out easy for emissions purposes.

Tails
09-20-2003, 02:30 AM
Can somebody explain to me why you need more than 200 watts for a stereo? It is a car. You are sitting in an area smaller than a jail cell. My home stereo is 200 watts and it blows the windows out of the living room. Maybe my hearing ain't what is used to be so I am missing the fine points here.

:)

CMNTMXR57
09-20-2003, 07:01 AM
Keep in mind, the 500 watt system in the F-Body's was a tad bit more powerful due to cars that have T-Tops or Convertibles that need the volume capabilities to compensate.

I'm not one of those going around playing their stereo's loud (as I said, it's mostly off) but for higher quality sound especially to achieve a broad frequency range, one needs wattage. It's not just for sheer power. For sonic clarity in order to get crystal clear highs, and powerful deep lows, POWER helps insurmountably in achieving this.

As to your 200 watt home system, how big are your speakers too? I bet they're a tad bigger than most common automotive style. They also have a much larger enclosure, bigger magnet and a couple of other things.

04GTO
09-21-2003, 12:04 AM
Another thing is that in your house you dont have to overcome road noise. Also all 200 watt stereos or 500 watt stereos are not created equal, one companys 100 watt stereo system may be louder than another companys 800 watt system. My 25x4 pioneer sounded better in my 86 grand-am than my 500 watt monsoon sounds in my trans-am . Anyways I just hope the system is adequate enough for the car regardless of the rating.

I would like to see a roots type blower available for the GTO. Magnacharger makes one for the Vette but I think you have to get a cowl hood so that it will fit. It may fit without a hood for the GTO.

2003 Monaro CV8, extensivley ported LS1 heads (300+ cfm inlet) 232/241 @ .050 .580 lift. 1.7 yella terra rockers, ARP head studs, cometic gaskets, 50 lb/hr injectors, 9.2-1 comp, 1 7/8 4-1 headers, dual 3" exhaust, twin plate clutch, bosch motorsport fuel pump. 3.3 litre Whipple supercharger fitted with the Starr Performance Intercooled blower package, making 10.5 psi of boost at the moment, being bumped up to 12-13psi this week.

no times have been run yet and it will be final tuned on thursday the 7th of August. Flywheel HP will be around the 700-750 mark.

DEFINITELY some type of aftermarket hood. A nice 4 In. cowl would give it a mean look, or maybe even a nice Ram Air hood of some sort.

CAI will be a definite necessity, and I'm sure one is already in the works.

Corsa would be sweet too, or maybe a GMMG exhaust, or even Mufflex or Spintech.

Whew - I'm feeling better now :)

I thought that had the tone of a joke but wasn't sure. I'm planning on keeping mine stock for the powertrain warranty duration at this point. I'm thinking when I need new tires that the black rims would look real nice on my black car.

After warranty is up - and assuming my state doesn't reimplement emission testing, LS1edit will be in my computer, the exhaust in the roof of my garage and probably headers and a full new 'no cat' exhaust system on the car:D

The Reverse style wheels will give the appearance of a deeper rim and they make the wheel look bigger. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to test fit or measure the car in the near future to determine how wide and how deep the outer rim section will be. If/when you are ready give us a call at 800.888.6754 and ask for Alan.

It seems to me that the LT4 Package Upgrade for existing LT1s was a pretty popular power upgrade at a reasonable price.

How about an LS6 PowerPack for the std LS1? I think it would basically involve adding the LS6 Heads, Cam and Intake, much like the LT4 upgrade.

Should be good for approx. 60hp bump, correct? Installation shouldn't be that tough and the cost should be reasonable. I'd think about springing for that package.

As soon as I find some white spoke wagon wheels, with the blue & red stripe, I am on the case. It will really offset the whip antennas I've got for it. My JC Whitney catalog already has a plethora of fine products for my GTO. Can't wait for my 52 function Dixie horn to get here, and as soon as I get the precise measurements for my roll-on woodgrain contact paper I'll set myself apart quite nicely. I contacted Ken Bell a couple of weeks ago and they are working on a kit now. This is definitely the way to go seeing what they've been able to do with the '03 Cobra 500-600+ horsepower with mods and some juice. I'll be ordering an Auto (wife wants to drive). I'm concerned that the bottom in the auto car won't handle the blower as well as the forged bottom in the manual car. Any thoughts? My 89 T-Bird SC was Supercharged and while th bottom help up great(forged), they were prone to blown head gaskets...another concern. I guess it depends on the level of boost you want to run. More is always better Right...as long as power keeps going up! How much boost can the stock LT1 motor handle? What kind of power numbers could we expect to see? For me as soon as I can I'll be installing a Bell blower. Nothing like the feel of instant boost!

Wow - either I'm getting older, or people just want to listen to music much louder than I did when I was younger. I had custom system in one of my previous cars that I used to listen to until I could get a headache. This system blows that one away by a long shot. Hmm what we I think we need most on the 05 stock models...

After 200 miles heres my input:

-Power Door Lock button (hey I have to drive into SE DC)
-Clothes Hanger Hook (even the aussies have to have dry cleaning!!)
-Memory Seats
-Heated Seats
-Power Sunroof (only and only if it wont rattle, otherwise forget it)
-Bigger Trunk
-Dead Pedal
-Redo the ingress/egress to the rear seats such that lifting the lever on the front seat auto slides the front seat back and forth. Had this on my Acura CL, it worked very well.

All that being said....That stuff is minor and so far I love the car. The Traction Control System is purely awesome. Rained the whole weekend, and I still was able to put decent power down.
