Hi Guys and Gals,
I posted a cry for help but have gotten no responses and just wanted to ask again. Does anyone have any ideas on what could cause the headlights in auto mode to not switch back and forth between the headlights and DRL's no matter what the lighting conditions? The dealership I went to told me they changed the ambient sensor and handed me the GM tech bulletin about the M6's and having the specific way to turn off the car. Pontiac is refusing to change the BCM and is using the bulletin as their reason. Can anyone help me? I am almost at 34,000 miles and if nothing else can anyone suggest a good dealership in Houston to take my baby to for a second opinion? Please help me I am a two goat family and looking for support as Pontiac has blown me off.
Thanks!

Why not just pull the relay and not use the DRL's?

Well didn't think about that I was just worried that perhaps something else was going to go wrong with the lights acting up. The car hasn't always done it it has just gotten progressively worse. They first stareted switching back and forth quickly even with the sensitivity was set to low and now they have gone to never switching. The headlights and DRL's work fine with manual controls but my last car locked me out and then really started going whacko when the BCM started its downward spiral.

Oh yeah and the car also does the lights staying on after it is off even when you follow all of the steps. I can't use the auto feature no matter what.

Then it definately sounds like the BCM has crashed, I would go in and raise heck with the dealer and let them know that the only answer is to replace the BCM which will also require you to replace both keys as well.

Maybe try going to a different dealer? Call pontiac and raise hell. I can't stand stupid shit like this. Is it really that freaking hard to just service your clients so that they become returning clients. I said this before and will continue to say, this is the last car I buy from GM. Not because of their product, but because of the atrocious disregard of its clients. The day they realize that they are in a service business will be the day they overcome Toyota (who figured that shit out awhile ago).

Well tried the whole calling and raising heck with Pontiac and got the wonderful answer of there is nothing they can do and won't replace the BCM. They said that the info the dealer gave them was simply explained by the tech bulletin and that there would not be a fix for it at this time. They also told me that I would just have to take a hit on the value of the car as it is defective. This was a week of talking to them and she wouldn't give me the number of someone higher up. She simply told me that they all had the same power and nothing could be done. I told her it was a load of bull that since they stopped making the car they care nothing about us and that GM wouldn't dare do this if it were a Cadillac b/c they would fear a smudge on the name but oh well to the goat owners because we don't matter anymore. I also told her that it was a crock that the parts are hard to find since the production shut down. I let her have it I was so ticked. We all own expensive cars these are not G5's and I don't know about you guys but I pay a decent note and to be told oh well is a big let down for those of us who support the goat and have to defend it against the mustang and tuner owners everyday (even though it is pretty fun).

:iagree: It's a real let down the way Pontiac/GM have treated some of the issues that these cars have had. I just don't understand why they can't see the value in standing behind their product and building up brand loyalty with all these owners of their cars by helping to solve the issues. It's so short-sighted on their part that it's incredible. They are just hurting their future business chances IMHO.

If the car is still under warrenty, find out what your state's lemon laws are. If they apply, head back down to the dealer, with a copy of the laws in hand, and ask to speak to the regional rep. Since they cannot fix a defect in the car (and your laws are written that way), point out that the car is a lemon and you want to start the process by giving the dealer/rep a first chance to make good on repayment, which is standard for a successful case in California.

Seriously, I think thats your problem...try turning Fog Lites off and see
if that doesn't work.

Well I have gone back to the dealership and begged them to please look at the car again and not even think about the lights staying on and just focus on them not automatically switching with the outside light. She is going to try again and see if they work out something to get Pontiac to replace the BCM. I greatly appreciate everyone's support I am still wounded by Pontiac and if weren't for awesome these cars are I think I would be at the dealership trading in both of the goats. I am just upset at how easily they blow us off. I think I will try Beck and Masten next. That is where I bought the car but started having problems with one of the service personnel b/c he was afraid to deal with me. I had to have them rekey my car because they lost one of the original keys, a set of replacement keys and then another set of replacement keys. Well according to what GM told them I have the only rekeyed 2004-06 GTO. They had to call Holden on how to do it. That's a funny story too.
