You can't buy them in the store unlocked. They are locked for use with only AT&T/Cingular. So T-Mobile and SunCom users can't use them unless they are unlocked. Verizon, Sprint, Nextell & Altell can't use them at all.

So, what is your selling price?
This is not ebay, I guess now sellers can just post a link to their ebay auction and leave it at that.:nono:

You are correct I posted a link to my auction it's your choice to bid on it or not. My buy it now was $520 Shipped. So if you're going to nit-pick you can either pay $520 shipped or you can try to bid and buy it cheaper.

You're absolutely correct; this is not eBay.
I typically allow users to post eBay links, however, for two reasons: eBay has its own safeguards in place to protect buyers, and eBay is not free. If someone wants to spend their money using the eBay service instead of following the rules here at LS1GTO.com for free, then that's their prerogative. The LS1GTO.com rules still apply; if a member posts a link to their eBay auction, they must have (50) posts, and the item(s) they're selling must be their own. No resellers. I also do a cursory check through the auction for pics, and if pics aren't present in the auction, chances are good that I delete the thread linking to the auction as well.
Hope that helps.

My brother inlaw bought an unlocked one last October and has been using it in Australia since. Strange that we were told they wouldn't work here due to frequency differences.
Still he hasn't had any problem with his.
Personally I'll wait till the next version which maybe of a more useful size.

The next gen Iphone is going to remain that size and it's actually very usable once you get used to it. I had the same feelings of it being undersized but it's really actually perfect.

Do you still have it? You do know the warranty is voided since it's unlocked.

Only thing is that you cant unlock the new 3G's. well at least not yet. So having the original unlocked may still sell somewhat.

The price is higher because it's
a) unlocked
b) no contract
The iPhone 3G @ $199 will carry a 2 Year Contract to PURCHASE, not just activate. So buying to hack and resell will be very costly unless people want to fork out an additional $250+ to buy it without a contract. Not to mention no current way to unlock them is known.
I was going to sell my old iPhone but I think the girl friend is calling dibs on it. I just got it replaced Sunday under warranty due to a slight touch screen problem, so I got a brand new one, and then extended the warranty for $40.

For all the doubters the Iphone sold exactly at what I paid for it. So no loss no gain either way unless you have AT&T you will not be able to purchase the 16GB for $299 without contract extension. However if you're willing to pay the $640 for the non-contract obligated version have at it.

That's great to hear. I'd be selling mine if my GF didn't claim it.
Also paying any more for the 3G is just stupid, you can get it for $299 + $40 activation fee and then cancel your service for $175. Still winds up less than $640. ;)

With T Mobile If I cancel contract I have to buy phone I thought that was same with all providers.

No that is when you ARE buying a phone. You can easily setup service without buying a phone. You get suckered into a contract when you want to buy a phone at their discounts. They discount phones for people who sign contracts, but nothing stops you from getting service without signing a commitment and using any GSM phone you may already have.

That's why I said it was cheaper to sign up with AT&T and cancel it, then ask them to unlock it. And then activate it with your provider. It's less than paying out right for it to buy at discount and then cancel service.
But in the US, seriously how is T-Mobile better service than AT&T when it comes to 3G? May as well stick with the 2.5G iPhone.
