I ruled out RE01R's as the treadwear on them is not anywhere close to acceptable to me.....both these tires have very decent treadwear ratings and seem to be very popular with many people
anybody here have them? I would be putting them on TSW wheels in a staggered 18'' configuration......
any thoughts appreciated

Treadlife, or traction? Which do you want?
If you want UHP all season, I liked my Bridgestone RE960AS. The General Exclaim UHP is another good bargain.

I LOVE my Nitto 555 Extreme Performance....
I got them for $122 a tire shipped from discount tire
300 treadwear and I have cut 1.91 60's on them

Keep in mind that treadwear is not a consistent measurement across brands. I know when I looked at the RE-01R's, people here using them were indicating rather good mileage on the tires. Hell my buddy just took his Evo to VIR and ran three track days with no appreciable change in tread on his 01R's either...

+1 for the Nitto's as well!!! I work at a tire shop and have these on my 05'... For the money they are HARD to beat!! If you want something with great traction and treadwear, look into Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons... 420 Treadwear AA traction A temperature

I really liked my Fuzion ZRi tires, enough to get a second set after the first wore out. They were quiet, broke smoothly (except for that very last time but that was driver error) seemed to get good traction, wore nicely, etc. First set were 245/45-17 all around, second set had 275/40s in back. Car was 100% street-driven daily driver. Wet traction was one of my main criteria. I would definitely consider them again in the future.

I have the ZRi on my '04 and RE-01R on my '06. The ZRi doesn't even come close. If you are looking for a more cost effective tire, I would go with the Nitto or UHP. I have heard good things about both and if/when I need to get new rubber on the '04, it will not be getting the ZRi again.

lol I'm so disappointed....after all this you're between those two?!
Treadwear varies from tire manufacturer to tire manufacturer.
The RE-01Rs have a 140 treadwear....the stock BFG KDWS have a 300 treadwear.
My RE-01Rs last 15k HARD miles on them (road course, hillclimb, etc) and had about 5k left on them if I pushed it.
My KDWS lasted 15k so-so miles on them some burnouts, drag strip a few times and I could have gotten another 5-10k out of them.
Get the RE-01Rs....hell you don't drive the car enough to probably ever need new tires :gr_jest:

I have had Fuzion ZRi for a year. Got them when my car had ~24K miles on the odometer. I now have ~39K miles. I think I could get another 4-5K miles out of them.
I only got two of them. First they were up front for a few months, then I rotated them to the rear.
I don't drag race. I never had problems with their traction on the street. I don't do any burnouts. I don't floor the gas pedal from dead stop, I usually ease into it and then punch it. They just go.
My commute is 25 miles each way in hot Florida weather. Mostly highway. I do drive fast. Occasionally I like to go fast[er] and tight around corners.
When I had the ZRis up front, I could hear a good amount of humming from them while making turns, especially going up the ramps in the garage at work.

You dont mention Toyo Proxes FZ4? I find them to be grippy, inexpensive and good on wear.

i bought the fuzions for the wifeys mazda, theyre AWESOME! i love the wheel saving lip that extends out a little... great for women parking near curbs.

I'm currently rockin fuzion zri's on the stockers and they're a great bargain tire all around. The only downfall is that there useless in the snow

I just put these on my goat. I am indeed impressed. Grippy as all hell, corners like on rails. Can't tell you about treadlife yet. But I will tell you, these are so much sweeter than my Pirelli PZero Neros:
