Is there anyone living in the NE Ohio area that goes to or knows anything about the Nelsons Ledges road course?? I drive by it every day and it looks like alot of fun to run on. I will be stopping by soon to see if they let anybody run this course. I just was wondering if someone already has?

you have to find an organization that has an open track day or driving school at the track - usually around $200-$250/day.

I will look into it soon, thanks. If there is anyone near the Cleveland area or SE of there and would be interested in doing this let me know and maybe we all can hook up for a day of racing (if they even do that) at the Ledges.

I met someone in a 3000GT a few weeks ago that said he'll be heading there on the 13th. He heads up the area club for his vehicle. Give him a call and tell him I sent you, and he should be able to give you all the details:

FYI. Posted to Corvette Cleveland's board:

"I'm John Schrenker, the track event chairman for the Allegheny Region of the Porsche Club of America (ARPCA). We are holding a two day high performance drivers education school at Nelson Ledges Roadcourse near Warren, Ohio on June 17-18, 2005.
We would like to extend an invitation to your members to join us. We welcome all marques and drivers of all experience levles. We run a safe event and provide each student with an assigned in car instructor and excellent classroom instruction.
I would appreciate it if you could share this with your members. I can be reached at JSSDMD@aol.com or visit our website www.arpca.com for applications and more info.
Thanks,

John Schrenker"

I was just there for the One Lap. It is a very fun track that has been greatly improved from the last time I was there in 2000.
Have in car video from the event, let me know if you would like it and I will try to make it available for download.

Later,

My in-laws live in West Farmington, about 8 miles from the track. A few years ago, I towed my BMW 325 race car up there and raced with the local SCCA region. A nice group of folks.

The track was very rough then (track itself and paddock) but I drive by there every time we visit and they have made some good improvements for sure.

It's a good layout and I'm sure you would enjoy it.

I raced there one time in my SCCA ITC Datsun 510 in the rain about 7 years ago and had an absolute blast! I had the car so hung out right and the end of the esses leading onto the front straight every lap that people starting taking bets when I would lose it since I kept coming in harder and harder each lap. Never lost it but some total stranger sent me a nice photograph of one of my opposite lock correction saves. I still have the picture! I wouldn't mind going back now that it has been improved.

You really brought this thread out from the dead...

Did some timed runs/DE at Nelson Monday 5/29/06 with our Corvette Club. Track has been improved like you indicated. Looks like I was running about 2 seconds faster a lap then in the past. Low oil pressure warning light came on and oil temperature fairly high at 270 so I called it a day after 7 laps. After it cooled down everything seemed to be back to normal. That's what I get for not putting in an extra quart of oil in my LS1. Doubt I did any damage to the engine but will be draining oil and sending it out for evaluation to be on the safe side.

Will be at Nelson again on Labor Day. About $85 for the day. You do not have to be a member of NCCC to participate.

My insurance agent is an instructor out there and keeps hounding me to take the Goat out there. One of these days when I finish the suspension/brakes/tires I'll go!

Anyone know if that track has been resurfaced? Last I was there 02ish with my bike IMO I thought that it was only suited for bikes due to the condition of the track, tighter lines.

We're up here visiting the in-laws again and I rode my mountain bike over there Sunday. From what I could see, the track looks much better now. Some bikes were racing and a guy ran wide at the left hander just before the front straight and went into the grass. He was doing ok until he hit the pavement a little sideways and went over the handlebars. I've never seen a motorcycle crash in-person and I felt sorry for the guy.
