i have the chrome 17" OEM rims on my car and they are flaking real bad and one is bent.....They were like this when I bought the car 3 months ago, but I got a good deal....I heard the dealer replaces these rims for free out of warranty due to the strut rub and gauge cluster problems??? I don't think I have any of these problems, but will they still replace them? any more information on this? What should I tell the dealer in order to get them to replace them even though I have no warranty??

If you have chrome OE 17's, they weren't chromed from the factory. Either the selling dealership had it done to bolster a sale or the previous owner had it done on their own. I have never heard of any dealership replacing a rim due to strut rub.... And it is usually a dogfight to get tires replaced from strut rub. Now if you bought this car from a reputable dealer, they may be willing to do something for you but if you don't have any problems, they aren't going to fix anything "as a precaution". You are most likely going to have prove you bought the car with a bent rim from them in order to get anything done about that. The only cluster gauge problems I know of were on early 04's that needed software updates. Your best bet if the dealer will not do anything for you for the flaking and bent rim is to buy a single rim, which you can find on eBay, and get them all rechromed. Or if you aren't a fan of the stock wheels, you can always replace all 4 with a nice aftermarket set. As far as strut rub, you need to pull off the front tires and look at the struts to see if there are rub marks on them. Look at the insides of the tires to see if there is abnormal wear. Also, inspect the strut mounts and the front radius rod bushings for leaks. Lastly do a search on here for strut rub and suspension problems with the GTO and you will get an overdose of info and what to do.

RESPONSE:
Dude, you should have already had your chromes replaced with stock painted ones, as described in the service bulletin. The chromes are known to cause strut rub and interfere with the gauge cluster. Get your car to the dealer as they should be replaced out of warranty due to the TSB.

Yeah, I have no idea what that response to you is all about. The person that responded probably got confused about what he was typing or totally did not read and/or understand what you wrote and responded accordingly. I read your thread about deleting your account.... I can understand where you are coming from but at the same token, don't let some of the stupid comments people type bring you down.... #1- Most people would not have the balls to say half of what they type on here to someone's face, and I've read some pretty shitty things that were posted on here, some that would make me want to take a road trip if they were directed to me..... #2- Through some of the bullshit typed on here, there is a lot of good information presented on this site, mostly by people that have devoted a lot of time to figuring the GTO out, what its flaws are, and how to make them better.

Just try to ignore some of the crap because you will benefit from the information on here. Not many GM dealers know the GTO like they should so by you being armed with info, it will make your ownership experience more pleasant.

If you saw some of the OP's responses in other threads, you'd understand why they would give him wrong information that would get him laughed at.
