These two international Pontiac clubs will share the show field (with independent judging by each club), hold joint drag races, share seminars, jointly hear professional speakers, have one huge joint swap meet and enjoy each others' company. Club business meetings as always will be individual to each club.

Here are a list of all the hotels. Remember that the cars will be at the Nutter Center so it does not matter which hotel you book. Shuttles will be available to the various hotels during the week.
2009 July 7-11, 2009
Welcome GTOAA and POCI members. Here are your lodging options chosen by your planning committee for the 2009 CoVention. Please note that in all cases the best way to register is to phone the hotel. Your special convention discount rate is only available by mentioning that you are attending the GTOAA/POCI CoVention. You MUST be registered with the CoVention before making hotel reservations. Yes you have to be a member of one of the two organizations in order to register. Each club is about 30 dollars or so for a year. They each include a years subsciption to their magazine. This year POCI is having a 10 dollar trial membership which will be good for 3 months and activated at the show. You cant go wrong either way. Hope to see you there.

As said above, you need to be a member. GTOAA is better for us, POCI is geared towards waaaay older cars.

This is not true. POCI in fact is geared to all Pontiacs and Oaklands. Mostly Pontiac for obvious reasons. Solstice, Firebird, Grand Am and all the others are all included.

Rob@Wretched,
Great. Hopefully I will see you there. Talk to you about some pedders stuff to get my 12,000 mile '06 feeling like new again. I swear after 1200 miles it feels the same as my my '04 when it had 31,000 miles......but then my '04 did the same thing in the same mileage period.

One thing I noticed when registering. You don't have what classification you want to be in. What I mean is there is nothing about stock, mild mod, super mod, etc. I guess when registering you could put your classification in the "Any other vital information" area?

I agree...the registration sheet leaves a lot to be desired.
PV classification & winner circle info. is absent.
I certainly hope it isn't expected for the cars to be classified once they reach tech-in. That could be a time consuming disaster. You should already have determined your class upon registering & the tech. inspectors job is to verify such, control parking assignments, ect.
Maybe the packets that are sent out, starting in March for those who have registered, will supply some more info.
sandu002
02-01-2009, 04:38 AM
I would think the committee will verify all registrations before they send out the packets. Therefore if you did not state a class, your registration is incomplete and they would contact you for any missing information.

Anybody have a line on hotel rooms? i called a couple of places on the list about a month ago and many were booked. Especially since I was only staying 1 night.

If you're coming up I-75, look into the Hampton Inn in Monroe, OH. Be warned though, 75 is going to be a war zone construction zone from Northern Kentucky all the way through Dayton. If you can come up I-77 to I-70 and across (or US 35 if you want), you should miss a ton of construction, and you can stay near Columbus as an alternative.

The cost is $49 to register. If you are not a member of POCI or GTOAA already then you can get a temporary membership to POCI for 10 bucks. Fire extinguishers can be purchased at Sams right now.$25 for a 2 pack(about 13 bucks each). I am staying at the Red Roof Inn right across the street for $56 dollars a night. 4 of us are sharing the room.4 nights comes out to %56 dollars each for the week. Food and some activities will be extra, but it will be well worth the good time you will have with your fellow GTO/Pontiac enthusiasts.

I'm registered and plan to be down Wednesday ... but honestly to me this whole thing is looking like a big no show for the 04-06 crew, especially the Ohio guys. I'm very disappointed that there has been very little enthusiasm for the event this year. That being the case I may just wait until Friday and check in after I'm done drag racing.

I would have loved to have made it this year, but I got a kid here now and that forced me to not going and I couldn't go last year due to the expense of driving to New York and back with 4 dollar a gallon gas. I was there both in 06 and 07 and it was good times. You'll have a good time regardless..
