I am stuck, I cannot decide, either the Ruff 278's hyper black or AZA Z1's.... grrr...

Which one of these wheels fit better?

You know VQ can shave a extra 3mm off ($10 a wheel IIRC) the back of the Ruff's right? that would make them a 48 offset if you went staggered. I like both rims and think they both look great on a PBM

Oh and if you like cleaning a really expensive, great fitting wheels go with the CCW's :shiner:

Look up Black Devil, He has Ruffs on his PBM

Even with the more expensive wheels, nothing calls out to me like the Ruff's do. I talked with Kurt a few times, and he has them, and said they fit fine with out being shaved--- Just need rolled fenders.

But the AZA's I can get for about 100 bucks cheaper... I am kinda on a budget... and I'll have to sell the wheels I got now, which are the ASA ST-1's (17's)

Just a hard decision... grr,

AZA Z1's fit just fine... if you have drag bags or have your fenders rolled or cut. I've had mine for 2 years and haven't had any problems. But I do have drag bags and keep about 15lbs in the to keep the fenders off the tires.

Oh... and I see now that you do have drag bags.

If the Ruff's are calling out to you, then buy them. Save a $100 bux now and regret it for a long time, or get what you really want and pay a little more. Personally, I'd spend the extra $$.

Then it looks like you are your own worst enemy here. Nothing the rest of us can do but watch and wait for the "dammit, I should have ..." post.

I vote for the Ruffs, but that's just me.

I had black Ruff 278 18s on my car for less than a day and took them off, and now I have CCWs

Out of those two, I would get the AZA's...but neither is a high quality wheel. Just get whatever will make you happy

I've always been told that when you are "torn" between wheels, the time isn't right.

Wait until you are 100% sure of what you want. No regrets.

I'm in the same boat. Drift R's, DR-2's, TSW's, etc...

I also do not even know if I want the 18 or 19 as many of my friends AutoX and say I should go with the 18" rim. The 19"s look better though.

i like the AZA between the 2. its really hard to find wheels that look really good on these cars, which i suppose is why im still on stockers, i just cant find anything i like enough.

I bought mine 2 1/2 years ago from Top Shelf Performance, a sponsor on the site. It's my understanding now, though, that they're virtually non-existant. I think some people were getting them from wheelmax, but I've heard bad things about them too.

I'm actually considering selling mine and going back to stock, or something not staggered. That's why I asked what you have on your car now. I'm not 100% sure it's what I want to do, but I may end up seeing if I can find someone that wants to trade, + some cash.

Lisa,

These are the wheels I have now...

http://www.rmgto.com/gallery/albums/wheelsreposito ry/asa_st4.sized.jpg

But they need new tires, the reason why I started this in to begin with..... I found them from a place for like 1100.00 shipped.... but I wanted to check here to see where you all got them from...

oh they are not 18's that picture is labeled wrong... Stock 17 size, and same size stock tire.

I need new rear tires on my AZA's. Those are nice wheels. I like them. Shoot, if I were closer to Ohio, I'd seriously consider trading you. My front tires are still in great shape. You'd only need to buy rear tires, 275/30/19's. Do yours need new tires all the way around?

Spieldawg

just 2 on the pass side.. I have the usual GTO piss poor alignement with the inside of the tire wear on the right front. The right rear is bald, and the other 2 are OK. I was a lazy ass... and I didn't rotate them, so now I am paying the price. I am such an Idiot. I looked up where you live, it would be a 4 hour trip to the middle.

I did just find these as 18's with Nexen 3000's for 1200 shipped to my door. These wheels were 169.00 new from tirerack (they only have chrome now which are closeouts) plus the tires... which were the same as the stockers... So they came out about even, 1269 before shipping

That's kinda strange. Why just the passenger side?

Spieldawg
07-27-2008, 04:53 PM
well I guess the right rear is "the drive tire" even though they both drive.. and I need and alignement up front, and probably new strut bushings.

Ah. I see. My left rear is always the first to go.

So where is Beaver Creek anyway? I grew up near Cleveland.

ContisportcontacII's on the front. Falken 452's (I think) on the back. But I'm gonna HAVE to have new tires by next weekend. The cords are starting to show thru on the left rear. Hmmm... I might have to think on this one. Maybe I can send you some upclose pics of my AZA's. I'll be upfront... they do have some curb rash and the backs have some places that are beginning to pit. So they are far from perfect. From a distance they still look great though. I don't know what you're set on doing, but I might could cut you a heckuva deal on some kind of trade.

I have the AZA Z1's and they fit perfectly with fender rolling. Personally, I love them.

Here's my Ruff 278's.
Just be careful if you get them with BFG KDW 2's. They stick out a little more than most tires and you will have fender issues. However that's fairly easy to correct.
Ruff or AZA both look really good to me.

Good luck with it.

I pulled the trigger on 18" Aza Z1's last night. Got the staggered 265/35/18 rear and 235/40/18 on the front.. Hopefully they will be here by friday. The tires are the Nexus 3000's
