Most people who do this do it by going inwards: install mini-tubs.

People who go outwards usually do it by flaring the fenders: cut, weld
in inserts and flare it out.

You're proposing going upwards. I expect that you'll need to remove
maybe three inches of material, with the bumpstops in their standard
position and yeah, that will cause structural problems in the GTO
fenders.

You could probably get away with removing just an inch or so of
material by raising the rear, using stiff rear springs and suitably
raising the bumpstops, perhaps by putting urethane washers on
the shafts of the rear shocks.

But I don't recall having heard of anyone do it in exactly the way which
you propose.

The wheels will stick out a lot, down near the rear bumper. There are
some aftermarket rigid mudflaps which would fix that.

Using this wheel calculator http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp you are going to have more of a problem with hitting suspension components. The stock tire and wheel size is 245/45r17 17x8 +48mm offset. So using the wheel you mentioned with the 305/25r20 20x11 +60 tire and wheel you would be 1.7 inches closer to suspension parts and only .7 inches outward toward the fenders. Based on that all you would have to do is mini-tub and put some stiffer "0" drop or 5/16" raise springs to use that setup and not even use flares.

Which ever way you choose to get them on there, I want to see pictures when you do get it done.

a while ago i saw some posts on the "justice package" that the pedars guys did for a sema show. some where it showed the car being built, and how much they cut out of the qtrs to fit big rubber. I dont think you will have to remove a super crazy amount of metal, the biggest thing you will run into is where the bumper meets the qtr pannel. the biggest problem that i had trying to run a tire that is taller than the orig. and with the width your talking the bumper to qtr. is a area to check for sure. i had some 20x10 +25 offset with a tire 245-35-20, thats 1.3 taller than stock, and it cleared the fenders except for at the bumper to qtr.

I don't think there's any possible way to get 345s back there, this isn't a Viper.

Why are you yelling?

All caps, no punctuation, publishing phone and email on the internet doesn't usually get you useful answers.

All the more reason to use discretion & a bit of common courtesy in responding to a reasonable inquiry,no matter how long someone's been posting,(by the way I have never took humor to respond to a customer's question at their expense & my resume extends back 27 more yrs. in this business than the above mentioned. There is no offense intended to anyone unless they take the 1st step.

When it comes to humor, this forum is chock full of it, and many many MANY questions posted have at least a few random, unrelated, humorous posts. So long as they aren't a harsh direct attack on somebody, most people get a little chuckle out of them on their way to posting up an actual response. His joke: not an attack. Its a penis joke. Laugh or don't and move on.

2nd, you could have a resume 70 years longer than he has been a member here, that wasn't the point. Having been been around this forum for a little bit, he knows that alot of people here will just pass by a thread when somebody uses poor capitalization, punctuation, and generally looks like a classified ad in a newspaper. You wouldn't call up a shop and leave a voicemail yelling "I'M PUTTING WHEELS ON A GTO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT WILL FIT PLEASE CALL ME AT 9088521111 K THANKS BYE!!!" and hang up.

If you're only a member of these boards to research info on the GTO, thats fine. But if you want people to offer you the useful information you seek, just take a little more time to type something legible and that looks like you cared about how it appears, rather than throwing up a thread as fast as possible with no regard to the aforementioned basic posting courtesies. I guarantee you'll get more responses and more than likely find an answer to your question.

hey ls2fish,I hope when I mention no offense intended to anyone concerned that would indicate two items;one being the fact that I'm not aware that his remark is acceptable joking around where my retort might be considered over the edge,& two, that some of us aren't as proficient as others at posting & therefore might make some clerical errors including mistakes in protocol on this forum.TO ALL members in my brief visits I've had a decent rapport & hope to in the future. In my 8 yrs. in the Corps. I learned their is no such thing as a free breakfast,& I hope this is the last qt. of oil down the funnel & that for those willing ,we could fire up the the thread that I started with. Thank you in advance for any input. (bump, whatever the f*ck that means) haha?

Smitty's05gto put some of those 1.5 raise rear springs and ran some 28's slicks a while back with no a-arm notching. Not sure about inner fenderwell hammering though.

Talk with firefly9r68 he can make it happen as can Vengeance. If I recall correctly you're looking at around $1500 for the work. Not bad considering the amount of work and the benefit gained.
