I've searched but haven't seen anyone with this offset. Will a 18x9 rear rim with a 40 offset fit? A friend of mine is telling me that it will fit. I dont want to touch my panel. I've searched and notice that the rims have a 45 offset on a 9.5 rear rim.

My rears are 40 9.5 but my lips are cut and I have drag bags.

Unless you stick with average sized 255s, it won't be rub free without modding stuff. My dad has 275s on 9.0" Schuck rims (discontinued of course) with 48MM offset, and the Bridgestones barely fit without rubbing.

The rims I'm thinking on may have a 3 inch lip.

Don't think it will work. 18x8 40mm yes, with the 9" width.... doubtfull
I have 18x9 45mm (have run 275's and very wide 265's), and I had to trim the finders.

What size tires you plan on running? Anything bigger than stock will definitely require modding. You'll be much better off with at least a 45mm offset or better yet, 48-50mm offset.

I was thinking of 265 (255 if I have 2).

I ran a 17x9 40mm offset with 255's and it rubbed on one side and not the other. Maybe a cradle alignment could have made it not rub, but I chose to cut the fender lips.

I have 8.5" with 38mm offset and it rubs the very corner of the lip. So, 9" with bigger tire which I assume you will put on, will definitely rub.
I don't konw why people make rolling/grinding fender such big deal, though.

I asked my body shop guy about cutting the fenders. He asked, "how long you keeping the car?" I said, "Dunno. Probably for several more years". He replied that no matter what they do, after cutting the fender, the paint won't seal as good as the original setup and will prematurely rust. Dunno if that's the case, but he turned down the job because he was worried about it...

I love this car but damn what a pain in the a.. to get rims for. Must dealers in P.R. have little or no clue on what will fit. Stock will stay on for some more time. Thanks guys for the help. Im not convince a 40 offset will fit.
