View Full Version : Low Powered Nitrous Kits: Dry vs. Wet

I know that in general, wet kits are preferred for safety as they feed fuel to the motor without piggy backing on the stock injectors. For any high powered set up, they are the only route BUT for a low powered setup, say a 50-75 shot, can you go with a dry setup?

I'm not talking about "what is ideal?" the issue is "Can you do it without blowing things up?"

Keep in mind, I'm talking about a few bursts of 12 seconds a pop a couple times year, if that. Mostly it's for show, with a run here or there. It's just an easier install, something I could do myself, and have used on numerous other cars (Mustangs, Hondas).

By all means you can use a dry kit. I am working on a dry kit for my GTO right now, I will be running a 100 horse shot. I have played around with many different nitrous setups, wet, dry and direct port. You will make the most power with a direct port but if you're not racing all the time a dry kit will give you the best fun for dollar.

For 100 hp or less, a dry shot is the easier route to go with no compromise in safety. Before you go to town on it be sure and run it on a dyno to be sure every thing looks good.

Great to hear your success stories, guys. This route looks to be around $1,250 for the kit, the bottle heater, remote valve, purge kit, etc. Probably about $2,000 total, if I pay for an install, about a fourth ogf an installed supercharger.

Quick follow up question for you - have you found the "suggested" fuel/ nitrous hets from the manufacturers to be ideal, as far as air fuel (for those fo you have dyno checked the kit)?

Also, does the fact that I'm already putting out above stock power, reduce the amount of nitrous I should run. So, if 125 is okay on a stock motor, then should you limit yourself to 75, if you've already upped power by 75 rwhp?

Thanks,

Ryan

the remote valve is a waste of money in my eyes its not that hard to get out and turn the valve 5 times and the purge kit is more or less for keeping consistant track times so if your not going to to be at the track you dont need it i have the zex kit no bottle heater or purge kit and it works fine with out either i plan on getting a bottle heater soon i got my kit for 640.00 not installed (thats my fun time)

Get NX unlike everybody else they have their jetting done for HP to the wheels, and the kit is awesome i have had mine for around five years and nothing has failed on me.
