..no, asshats, not the space beaurocrats, this NASA...

The Open Track, Time Trial, and HPDE events at awesome road courses like Willow Springs and Buttonwillow look like way too much fun. I mean, I only live ~40 minutes away from Buttonwillow!

I'm swearing off the 145 mph freeway banzai runs...there are too many Very Bad Things beyond your control that can happen on a freeway, and they just aren't condusive to 1.75 tons of metal and glass going well over twice the speed limit...

I still have a need for speed, and this will allow me to do it without stupidly taking a chance of having to be hosed off of the road...

NASA is a great organization here on the east coast. The HPDE's are a blast.

LOL, you still have very good chances of being hosed off the road. 145mph asphalt is rough on human tissue.

I did the Skip Barber 3-day School a couple years ago. :hail: :hail: :hail: It was a life-altering experience. I'm not kidding, how much I thought I knew compared to what I really know now, its just night and day. My class had all former champions as instructors, all from different styles (motorcycles, open-wheel, etc.). The formal training was great, the drive time was great. And to get to sit around and listen to what they see and think watching stuff go around the track, they are sooooo far ahead of us, it is amazing. And driving their little open-wheel vehicles is wonderful, I mean point-and-click and you are there, it was an amazing thing to drive around a track. I did it out at Motorsports Ranch, in Cresson, TX, a little ways SW of Fort Worth. Great little country club.

I also did a half-day school at Brand's Hatch in the UK, driving right-hand drive BMW 325's. Nothing like learning to shift left handed while flying around a race course! :bubbrub

I did a few schools. the best of Bob Bondurant. they are really good (like Godzilladude, I thought I knew quite a bit, but the instructors showed me a lot more), but also really expensive. I've already done some road racing and autocross before I went to Bondurant. This is what I recommend also. You should do a few autocross and track days before heading out to a professional driving school. so know the basics, such as apex, car balance, heel and toe, etc. so you are not wasting your money learning the basics at $200 per hour !!

I would recommend first going to a go cart school, they are cheaper, and you learn balance and racing lines better on a kart !! not mentioning it is more fun :shiner:

Perderb, what tires do you run on your GTO while on track? thanks.

just checked your web site, I see RA1 is the spec tire. so what size RA1 did you put on your GTO, as there is no stock 245/45-17 size.
