What a PITA. But when your life depends on reliability you gotta do what you gotta do.

I love it. It's like a bonding experience actually.
And who doesn't love the smell of gun oil!

Really? Ughhhh. Curious what do you use? I use Pro Shot cleaner for the barrel, and Break Free oil for all the contact points.

Hoppes #9 is what I use too. Sweet smelling manly oil. lol
Gunscrubber to break everything up, then follow it with Hoppe's, then break free only for lube.
Then I rub the Hoppes on my nipples and prance around the house for an hour. Ok, maybe not....

Springfield Armory Micro Compact 1911 .45. No kidding I used it three times. I got fed up with the take down process and it's been sitting pretty ever since.

I enjoy cleaning, it's like detailing your car.
I use Butches bore shine and oil, CLP for daily maintanence, Synthetic slide grease for the stainless guns.

Just get an AK and you won't ever have to worry about cleaning.

I thought I was the only one that enjoyed detailing my car. I actually find that relaxing. But cleaning my firearms.......Nope

Cleaning a 1911 isn't that bad. I find it rather enjoyable. :)
Try cleaning an AR after using a suppressor, or any firearm with a supressor for that matter! :bomb: It NEVER is 100% clean.
Oh well, the pros definitely outweight the cons there! :) I've found I have to be in a mood to clean guns. Sometimes I'm like "Dear GOD! This is a bitch!" but other times I get really into it I end up cleaning all 15 in my collection. Maybe its the military side of me that stuck?

I clean my carry weapons frequently. But I am not cleaning my AR's until something goes wrong to prove to a friend that they aren't as unreliable as he thinks.

I bought an L&R ultrasonic cleaner + fluid a few years ago. Best $400 I have spent on guns yet :).

The time it takes to thoroughly clean certain guns must be justified by the amount of time spent shooting it.

Got to keep the gun clean! A must... Use CLP, if you had a long day at the range. Use Carb cleaner but use a good amount of CLP afterwards. Keep those weapons clean, your life may depend on them one day... Sorry, that only applies to Military, or does it!?!

I can feel your pain... Had lots of fun cleaning an M16 after being used with a blank adaptor while I was a cadet.
It was hardly worth crap for all the fouling after just one magazine.

That`s what kids are for my 17 yr old always cleans our guns after going to the range.I pay for all the ammo, range fees and targets. He gets to clean the guns when we get home as his reward. He may not always be happy about it but he does a good job.I figure it`s good practice since he going into the Marines in january.
^^^^ LoL.... thats how I grew up. My Dad payed for all my supplies but I was on my own as far as upkeep and I knew if i didn't do a good job then i didn't get to shoot anymore and now I love taking my guns down and making them look like new after I shoot them

Are you and or your son religious? Just asking because the boy scouts and or at least the people that financially support them are very much so. A lot of people don't know that before getting involved in it. By the way, we missed the gun show and your chance of buying a sniper rifle :( . Next one is November 29th.

I’m not religious. But I do know it cost me $135.00 for the year. And that doesn’t include trips, supplies, uniform etc, etc. Once I got the bill I was like Jesus Christ!!! So if that makes me religious than I guess I am.

You best not let them know that because they make it clear that atheist or agnostics will NOT be allowed because the BSA contends that these policies are essential in its mission to instill in young people the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
