I am about to purchase my first gun (at a gun show) and was going to pay with cash. The question is; with me being a first time guy from out of the blue, will paying in cash draw curiosity? What is the perferred way to pay at a gun show?
Thanks

Method of payment doesn't matter, as long as you're not trying to barter with rabbit pelts or something like that. No one will care, cash or credit.

+1, there's never really a preference on method of payment, as long as the money's good! :D

cash makes dealer deal better usually,I have seen them drop the prices sometimes VS credit cards

I agree with speeddemon, cash will usually give you a better deal at a gun show. It will not raise any eyebrows. You should see all the cash that trades hands at the gun shows in Texas.

No, no one will care if it's your 1st or 100th purchuse. Cash is much prefered to credit when buying most things, especially guns from smaller dealers. They will drop the price and be more open to haggeling.

I had cash at the last show I went to and got a guy down from $650 to $550 on a gun. The promise of cash right there got him.

yeah, dealers tend to start drooling when you show them a fist full of hundreds.

Went to a gun show in Tulsa Ok. about two years ago. Is crazy the type of guns and ammo that is legal there, shotgun shells with fletch darts, door busters, lead balls with wire attached, armor piercing rifle and pistol shells, tracers........is no wonder the cops were shooting someone every night the 3 months I was there !

I have my Texas CHL, but have yet to buy a gun (no reason, just haven't decided on one particular model yet). I've always wondered though, what is the benefit of a gun show verses going straight to a dealer?? Are the guns at a show new and in boxes, or are they used??

Dumb questions, I know.

Can buy new or used at the gun show, and usually better prices that at a gun shop/dealer. A lot of custom guns available at the shows also.

You can buy brand new in a box or used. Nice thing about a gun show is the dealers are more willing to haggle on price.

I know with my CHL, I can go in and out with a gun at any store. I've heard that's not the case at a show....whereby ANYONE can buy without any wait or background check. Is this true??

With a CHL you can cash and carry just like at a gun store. The CHL will bypass the waiting period.

while i can't totally speak for TX.

im guessing that is on personal sales (face to face). wait periods deal with FFL (dealers).

You still have to fill out the federal paperwork, but their logic is that once you have been through the extensive background checks to get your CHL there is no need to make that person go through the waiting period for yet another background check.

I only buy from the FFL dealers at the show, so I am not sure about what takes place with a personal transaction between non dealers.

cash at a gun show is the best way to go
