I'm not talking about different sizes, but can you have tires that are the same size but different brands and tread patterns? Thanks in advance. TC

I believe as long as they are all Radials
I ran Nitto NT555s on the the front and the stock BFGs on the rear for a while with no problem

you can, but I wouldn't recommend it. Especially in wet weather...

Kinda odd, but reality is it shouldn’t matter much unless you really push the car hard.
Auto-x and especially Road Racing - not advised.
Driving around on the street – well they are round, rubber, radials, and full of air right? You'll never know the difference.
But it’s always a good idea if you are replacing one tire due to damage or whatnot, go and buy two. You don't necessarily have to have the same kind front/back. If your not staggered, I’d pick the two with the best tread and put them on the back. A skid in rain usually happens because of a loss of traction in the rear. I rolled around on Dunlops up front & Toyo's on the back for a long time while driving aggressive on the street.
