View Full Version : Can I put my rims back on?

A stud broke on me about a week ago, and I believe it was due to the fact that I forced the billet rings into the rim and they didn't sit flush (the offset in the rears is shaved). We noticed the broken stud when my buddy noticed the wheel wobbling down the highway, and there were actually 2 busted studs. Could this be result of the studs or the rings? Because I'm going to a show tomorrow and I really don't want to go on my stock wheels :popcorn2:

Edit: the two studs were replaced, by the way

I thought studs would only break if its no the right bolt pattern or if you torqued the lugs too tight. I have ruff 280s and billet rings so you should be ok to put them on. Don't over torque them.

I would say yes, but be sure that the wheel is bottomed out on the face of the rotor. Tighten the nuts with the wheel off the ground in the star pattern.

Make sure, also, that you have the correct rings. I haven't had a problem with mine and I have had the wheels on and off of my Goat enough to know if they weren't working as intended.

Good luck and be safe

they're 'standard' which supposedly fits everything but TSW. The thing is, I had to chisel them off of the rotor to put the stockers back on...I wanna make sure they're totally flush. I guess i could hammer them while they in the wheel to make sure it's flat

having the wheels milled is your problem. my TSWs are milled and they dont sit flush against the rotor with my billet hub-rings. hence why i have no hub rings on right now until i shave mine down 3mm:)
