Well I got a hell of a deal on this rear setup. jegstars w/ mt et drags. like new. for 150.00 but the backspacing was 5.5 not 4.5 like we use. I figured they would work, but I don't know, they stick out quite abit, which I can live with, but Im afraid they are going to rub.. will dragbags stop the rear end from sagging when leaving off the line at the track? or am I doomed and forced to sell them...:bomb:
the size of the mt's are 26x10x15's. pics below....

wow those stick out quite a lot. i kinda like it. i would look at some pedders 5/16's drag springs along with the drag bags. that should take care of it. are you for sure rubbing now?

I recently upgraded to 275's on the rear 18" rims, and they rubbed. Even with the 0" drop pedders springs, which I expected. Today, (this is going to sound stupid) I installed coil spring bushings (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mr-Gasket-1287-Bushing-Coil-Spring-Spacer-4-I-D-6-O-D_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQi temZ330266493965) and it seemed to eliminate the rubbing...for now
**I am still looking for a local fender roller to rent, but for now, my ghetto setup works just fine.
[edit]
Drag bags and 5/16 springs will probably be your best bet for those big-arse tires!

BTW, your car is a cannibal since it can be argued that it is an import too. :)

Oh no! The 70's are back!

I'm think you have the BS reversed, most use the 5.5 BS. From the pics those look like 3.5 BS, did you actually check the BS on them?
Those were a good deal though. Keep the tires and sell the wheels.

No I'll check them. I decided to do just that. keep the tires and sell the wheels. Hell a new set is only 250.00 ... can you tell me what bs I need to keep the tires inside the wheel well?

Most of them running Weld wheels are 15X8 with 5.5BS. This is the deepest they make unless you go to Bogart, Holeshot, etc. and get a custom offset made. Even with the 5.5BS, you'll need drag bags and/or springs to prevent the rear from sagging during launch.
I don't know how deep a BS is needed for a 15X8 wheel, maybe someone in the drag racing section can help you. Sorry.

Drag bags will only get you some clearance, but other suspension mods would also be needed to support the bags.
Here's the bags, as you can see they can only go so high with the shocks as the other support. More ridged support should be used with the extra HP. Plus with the size of the tires your rear end should be beefed up too....

Good luck, I kind of like the wider tires, reminds me of the Old school look.
