I am currently about to purchase my next car, and one of the cars i have been debating on is an 06 GTO, I know some of the changes that have been released.
I was wondering when they are expected to come out?
And if anyone can yet, what are some of the "not known" things that are gunna be released  u can tell me! :)....
But really im just wondering when the release date is so if i know i should wait for it or buy a vette

The changes for 06 have been outlined in several threads already. Try a search, i'm feeling lazy.
One thing to note, they are pulling Midnight Blue and Yellow and replacing them with an Orange color (which has yet to be determined what it looks like) and another deep Red color not unlike the Pulse red for 04. Otherwise, their are no 'major' changes worth taking note of.

Actually I heard there are changes that are gunna be released on the 06 that havent been released to the public yet, and the people who know have an embargo not to say anything.

The changes were outlined in a PDF somewhere. I think they changed the power seats to scoot foward faster for easier access to the rear seats, added a button for something on the console and some other random tidbit. Their has been all sorts of rumors floating around but most have been shot down already. (Such as the SAP front end from the factory or more horsepower.)
Edit: Found this....

Darkened Tail Lamps, Lighted radio controls on steering wheel, Extra 12v power outlet.

I thought they were going to stop '05 production in the April/May timeframe to get a leg up on '06 production. Maybe they decided to extend production due to increase demand for the '05.
At any rate, it's definitely better than last year. I think they were building '04s until almost October.

Oh well...doesnt affect me. :)

05 Production ends 7/8/2005. I don't know if that had any effect on the 06 Start-Production date.

From the discription autocross style grill's are standard.
Pontiac really has a uphill batttle with these GTO availability dates.
Just saw on cadillacforums.com that '06 CTSs and STSs are already ondealer's lots in Michigan!
And we are still in JUNE!

And we are still in JUNE!This is a major problem that has to be rectified asap. Excuses about when cars are built in Australia and transit issues do not cut it. Marketing a product that is 4 months behind in its industry is not going to work in an enviornment where consumers expect things yesterday.

Regardless, it will still take the dealers till July 2006 to learn what is standard on the car. I still have a dealer insisting the hood scoops are a special package on the 05's....

LMAO..................
There are some very knowledgeable dealers, unfortunately for every 1 knowledgeable dealer there are 100 lazy ignorant ones.
The dealer that I bought my '04 at said they couldn't switch the custom rims they had put on the one I wanted to another GTO because they wouldn't fit! Talk about a dumb ass or maybe just greedy, maybe both!

BOTH...LOL Greedy and Stupid. They lose a 32K sale because they don't want to lose a $300 profit on some wheels. Makes Homer Simpson look like a rocket scientist.

Me thinks the extended production date may have to do with the train accident with the 05 GTOs that got damaged

That was only 12 cars. They can build those in less than a day.

It is more like reversed, NO HODD SCOOPS had to be ordered and the hood scoops were standard. :-punch:
Does this dealer still have 2004 GTO's? and if they do, do they have 05 hoods on them:sneaky:

What affect will this have on the '04's? I would like to get into an '04 later this year or early next year.

Supposedly there has been a very small price adjustment. Either the info I got was a typo or the price went down about 200 bucks on invoice.

I saw something about a power lock button added to the console....
Big news to me would be either including the Monaro auto climate control or the new 6-speed auto trans. I read that the Aussies are seeing 06 Monaro's running around, and they all have sunroofs....

I was talking to one of the salesperson at my dealership while my Goat was there for service, and I knew more than he did about the 05 GTO's, and he said so too. Then I told him that I was the first person to buy a GTO there, he said, "Oh your the one, I heard all about your car." It made me feel quite special....lol...lol. Anyway, back to the subject, I did find out that the 06's haven't started yet, but the change over is being worked on. The service manger said that the electrical system is giving them some trouble, and it MAY hold up production till late August. True or not, I'm just passing along some info I was told, so don't kill the messenger............

Hadnt heard about the power lock button. Auto climate aint gonna happen for several reasons. search for the thread. And I still dont understand the reasoning behind not offering a sunroof.

There is supposed to be a power door lock button for '06. Every rumor I've heard so far says that.

As far as the climate control goes, I have read that one reason it's not offered is that the temperature range is too limited for cold climates. Isn't the Monaro sold in Europe as the Vauxhall Monaro? It gets pretty damn cold in Europe! I think Pontiac is just cheaping out on us.......

There is alot of testing that would have to be done. Also they are trying to keep the cost of the car the same. Most places do not have the combo of temp ranges and humidity that we have here.

I wonder if the 05's have been prewired for the Door lock button? Anyone know? We got lucky with the gauge pods.

Sunroofs are not popular in Oz due to the high sunloads there. The current GTO roofline was not designed to accommodate 95th percentile males (more like 85th), so it was never seriously considered for the US market.
