I'm interested in seeing what solutions you guys have come up with for drag racing wheels. Any E.T. Streets out there?

Anyone using 16" rims?

I'd like to use 16" E.T. Streets.

I need to hookup more than 450 rwhp. Maxing out at about 550 rwhp after methanol kit.

I will be running Nitto DRs on my stock wheels to get my power from th eProcharger to the ground! Eventually when I save some money I will get a pair of wheels for racing only, but for now it will work.

Funny thing is I will probably have the same wheels as you. AZA Z1s staggered!

My first option was to get an extra set of 16" AZA Z1s but they only come in 18"s.

You should look into the Mickey Thompson Drag Radials or the BFGs. I've used the Nitto's on a 585 rwhp Vortech powered Mustang and they would spin in third and fourth gear if you weren't careful. Mickey Thompsons are a much softer compound (0 treadlife indicator).

I my try those on the stock 17"s if I can't find 16" rims that I like.

If I can get the MT et Drags to fit on the stock wheels I would most likely go with those to be honest. I completely forgot about them! Also, do your AZA Z1 rears stick out? how do they look? I am curious whetrher I should go stagger or not!?

No they don't stick out but they are close. You definitely have to roll the fender lips a lot.

Here's a couple of pics.

I'm running 315/30 on 10x18 wheels. As you can see from my avitar body was modified to fit them in. With 490 RWHP and Hoosiers at a road course it was unreal off the start. The car also has BMR one piece drive shaft, half shafts, Harrop dif cover and urethane rear cross member mounts. They work well together with larger rear wheels.

Bought a set of TSW Imola's they are 16" 7 1/2" wide with 35 offset. I made a mistake and mounted my old BFG 255/50/16 DR's and they rub horribly. Need to get DR's that won't stick so far from the rim.

Nitto 555Rs on stock rubber in 275/40-17. You can also get the MT ET streets in the same size like Padre.

 Update, mounted Hoosier QTP 26x9.50-16LT on my TSW Imola 16" 5-120 35 mm offset 7 1/2 wide rims. These might be a bit narrow for your HP but man these QTP's are sticky. BTW no fender rolling or mods of any kind needed for fitting.

275 17" MT ET Street DRs, on Stock Rims. Had to trim the passenger side lip a tiny bit, other than that no rubs.

They are holding 400 whp OK, probably hold a bunch more.

If you are going to use 16" wheel You really should try M & H Racemaster these hook-up much better than MT's ......Jeg's & Summit sells them

Runs GREAT! The more I drive it around, the better it runs. Don (Slowhawk) Kinder sure got this first go around on the tune pretty close. Now we'll see what it does in action.

The only problem is this thing is just too f'king loud with just the "Outlaw" mufflers and dumps. I'm having a custom shop (Jim's Custom Exhaust in West Kingston RI) mandrel bend some three inch tailpipes and adding another set of mufflers in back. While it's true adding the Dynomax bullets to the exhaust really isn't placing "that" much more of a muffler, I have to try something and quiet her down without killing power...

As for results... well, let's just say every time we try to get to the track something happens. Last Friday, they closed NED for resurfacing. The Suburban's cat's overheated and nearly halted the ride home with disaster. Then the extra two and a half hour ride up with all the weekend Boston traffic. Something that should have said "Stay Home" but I didn't listen... :)

Hopefully with the cats cut out of the 'burb and the new tail pipes on the goat, we'll be ready for another adventure up north. We're going to try this Friday but with 90*+ temps, a new track surface and being a street night, I'm not expecting much traction or HP to be available.

Wish us luck! We need it...

Does anyone know if any other 15 inch wheels fit over the rear brakes, other than the Bogarts? I'v found some 15 inch wheels in a 5x120 pattern, but I'm sure what it take to clear the rear brakes. Does anyone know?

Not sure who makes what but I tell you something... if they aren't totally flat from the bead to the hub, they'll hit the calipers. Even the passenger brake line had to be "tweaked" not to hit...

Cool, that helps. The wheels that I'm looking at are made TSW, I don't have any specs on them other than they are 15x7, don't know the backspacing avalible or anything like. Got to clear the project with the wife first, before I dig in and really start to look around...

How much clearence is there around the caliper, assuming a flat inside?

THe smallest size listed is a 26/11.5 and it requires a 10" wide rim.

To big.
