Hey guys/gals,
Man who knew finding wheels for these cars is such a pain. I have decided to have some custom made, since I have to have these made, I wanted to stay with 17" only issue with that has been that I can only get a 17x8" and a 17"x10", not sure why there is not a 9" but both Boyd Coddington and ZE Forged do not offer a 9" width in 17". Why 17" you are asking, well I like the look of the taller profile tire on the 17" vs the 18" on this car. No flames, it is just my personal preference on this particular car, I have a TA with low profile tires (35 f / 30 r).
So best offset for 10" width? I plan to run a 275/40/17, A waste for a 10" rim, but I really can't see going any wider than that.
I was thinking 55mm?
Does anyone know of another wheel that I could get made in both 17x8 and 17x9?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris, I widened my wheels to 8.75 and have done a spreadsheet kinda playing with the offsets. I have 275/40r17's out back with 17x8.75 wheels. Here is the sheet and you can play with the offsets. The 2 marked actual are the stock and what I currently have. The adjustment is the spacers I would need to change the wheel position. I currently am using 8mm spacers.
Thanks, Jeff
PS. This table didn't look very good. I have attached a text file that is really an excel spread sheet. Rename to .xls extension to open in excel.
Width Offset Adj. Offset MMs Inner Outer
8.00 48.00 0.00 48.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 Actual
8.75 57.53 8.00 49.53 19.05 11.05 8.00 Actual
9.00 60.70 11.18 49.53 25.40 14.23 11.18
9.00 60.70 11.70 49.00 25.40 13.70 11.70
9.00 60.70 10.70 50.00 25.40 14.70 10.70
10.00 73.40 24.40 49.00 50.80 26.40 24.40

jpoole,
I can not express how much that has helped. Thank you!!! That is why I love these forums!! So it looks like 49mm is going to be the way to go. In theory based upon 49mm I should be able to mount the factory wheel without a tire to gauge clearance issues by adding the width of the 275/40/17 centered upon the factory wheel? I realize that it is 1mm off but should be ok for a test look to see what clearance issues will be.
Make sense?

Glad to help. I was thinking that the 49 or 50 would work well. I have the 17x8.75 and the 8mm spacer rubs occasionally, very very seldom. Hard cornering with a tight turn. My offset is, best that I can figure, 49.53mm. I think 48mm centers same as stock so I am slightly in. However, if i mover out it may start rubbin there. I would personally use a 9" rim with the 49mm offset. The 275/40r17 work and look fine on my 8.75s.
Thanks, Jeff

So the bolt pattern is 5x120mm not 5x100 or 114.3 right? There goes a lot of wheels.

jpoole,
I would love to use a 9" wheel, however I can't find anyone that will do a custom wheel for a decent price that use a 9" width in a 17".
05Goat,
Yes our wheels are a 5x120, you have to watch those offsets too, there are quite a few wheels out there, (Well not too many that are in stock!!!) :banghead: But do searches for a 99 BMW M3 and you should be ok unless you are wanting a wide tire out back. Do a search for wheels here and you will find tons of info.

Keep in mind that a 10" wide rim with 48-50mm offset will rub really bad on the fender liip and will require rolling or even pulling the fender, because it will stick out 1 whole inch farther than stock.
10" wide no matter what you do requires rolling the fender heavily, but requires at least a 50mm or more offset to not have to pull the fender as well.

Form my experience I would think the larger offset will probably rub on the inside.

Was supposed to be "50mm or more", but 55mm I think is what CCW had to run to fit them in the rear with heavy fender rolling.

I want to run 17x8F/17x10R CCW Classic wheels.
Chris have you looked into HRE, CCW, Fiske?

Yea, I think a 17x10 will be kinda hard to fit out back. Unless the increase in rim width is absorbed inside the wider tire and doesn't cause the section width to increase a bunch.
