Just to start a discussion about possible future products...
How much is being done with cam design/research with motors that have Active Fuel Management, aka Displacement on Demand.
I know how AFM works (no need for lecture :) ) and why cam design for them is problematic, im just wondering what if any cams will be available for these motors?
I love AFM FWIW in my truck :)

DOD Combinations:
Good timing... I just finished up with John Nelson from Chevy High Performance magazine on this topic. John is doing a "what's new" type of article for the CHP magazine readers. The DOD camshaft and it's particulars was a topic along with the variable valve timing system. Appears there is quite the interest by the consumers in DOD camshafts, but sadly not much the industry.
Back on topic.... Over the past few months, Mike at New Era Performance Parts and I have been burning up the midnight oil getting a series of DOD packages perfected and ready for retail sale. We have these kits ready for sale right now! Mike actually used his wife's Pontiac G8GT to do the testing so you know it's "wife approved".
The first series of tests done with the new LS3 engine were the removal of the DOD system and using a series of "StreetSweeper" series grinds in the G8GT. After the testing, a brand new and LS3 specific valvetrain package was created and will be for sale to those customers who are modifying their vehicles to power levels that were really sweet. I'm sure eventually, other shops will be able to duplicate this kit since all it takes is the purchase of one of these kits and they'll know what Mike has created. Sadly, that's the state of this industry...
In terms of the secong stage or "phase two"... the perfecting of the DOD valvetrain and tuning, well... this time... we're keeping this information a bit more secretiv because it took a lot of research and long hours to get this system to work flawlessly.
Did we succeed? Hell yeah... The Pontiac G8GT test vehicle was DRIVEN to and from, Rochester NY to Memphis TN for the GMPP LSX Shoot-out. Matt ran the car in the LSX True Street event and clicked off a bunch of LOW twelve second passes.
In terms of availability....
These new DOD valvetrain "Packages" are only going to be sold through New Era Performance Parts. I would suggest anyone interested in this technology to contact Mike over there and bring your DOD vehicle to them for installation and tuning of the total package...
