View Full Version : Cheap Wheels (3-Month Winter Duty) That Look Better Than Stock?

I don't care about weight and width and all that. I'd really like to stay in the 17-18" range, 8" wide so I can run 245s on all four corners but would entertain the idea of a 9-9.5" rear with 275s, etc. The main goal would be to just get something that looks better than the stock 17s and that would be cheaper than getting stock 18s. My stock 17s might get me through this winter but then again they may not, and if I have to get new tires I'm getting better looking wheels too. Any ideas guys?

I have nothing to offer, but I'll be rocking out on 15"s this winter lol.

dak, I have to ask man, do you have some facination with the stock 17s in chrome/polished? There isn't a single way the 17s look good IMO. You could have four 17s lying on the ground with a gorgeous naked chick draped across them and I'd still say those are some ugly wheels.
rondel, which 15s? Are those Sterns in your signature?

No, those are 17" MK Motorsport MK1. That was my summer setup until I sold them.
The 15"s are these:

I'll get some pics up when I put them on later this month.

Those Borbets or Forgelines? Leaving them silver? With some fat tires on them I think they'll look very purposeful.

I just picked up a set of these the other day. Couldn't beat the price. I'm still waiting for them to come in though.

They're Borbet Type T. 15x7" with 205/60 winter tires. These will be only for winter/snow driving. I don't care about having fat tire sin winter, not gonna help much..... :)

I like Chromed 17's for some reason.

qwikslvr FTW!!! Those actually look very good IMO and will fit perfectly, and fit all my criteria. They actually look much better than anything I thought I'd get at a price point lower than I imagined. That alone is worth picking them up. I'm about to order a set now. Perfect winter wheels that I may run longer than winter just for kicks if they look as good as I think they will.

Ordered the Gassens. Hopefully they're not junk, although I've always heard good things about Privat wheels. Probably won't be able to get tires for them until I sell my 17s with wheels and tires, so who knows when I'll get them on the car.
Hopefully it doesn't turn out like my last shipped wheel-only purchase. When I've had wheels and tires shipped I've never had problems. When I've had wheels-only shipped I've had damaged wheels twice before. Hopefully they'll get here safe and sound. I won't even mind pulling the CCWs to put those on for a few months out of the year.

I can keep your CCWs warm for you if you need. Just sayin'. (BTW, those Gassens do look good considering the price)

While they're off I spend the whole winter polishing them up to go back on in the spring, so unfortunately I guess I'll have to hang on to them. It's a shame really. :)
BTW: Best movie ever. ;)

Yea... I'd just use the stock 17s and throw some 225/50-17 Blizzacks on em. I mean, who cares if they get messed up? They're ugly and the car had an 18" option that looked much better. If the GTOs magically start appreciating, we can hit up the aussies for some factory 18" rims...

No, it doesn't :banghead:
But they do look rather sexy, especially for the price.

I bet I could pop some sort of higher end wheel center cap in there and people wouldn't know the difference. I wouldn't do it, but they do come across as very high quality wheels in person.
