Is anyone running the Nitto 555r with the stock 245/45/R17 tire size? I have seen a lot of guys using the 275's but I was wondering if anyone was using the 245's and if so how do you like them?

I know you don't want our 275 opinions but I will give you mine anyways! Buy these things they are unreal and hook great! I also opted to run the Nitto 555 regular tires up front and they are also nice, not to mention keepin the same brand on the car is a good thing for me.

Cool. Are you running those on stock rims?

I am also interested in people running 245 as opposed to 275, these will be my next mod after having gone to the track and spinning every single time (had to leave at 3/4th throttle).

A lot of people are running 275's and claiming no rubbing. Nitto does make a 245 version but I think the 275's have gotten so popular with the GTO's that no one runs them. Plus the 275's add some more width to the rear.

I don't think there is much of a difference performance wise between the two...

Thats what im thinking. I'd like to get a wider wheel though because i dont like the looks of how the tire bulges from the rim.

the 275's really don't bulge at all - I think they actually run a little narrow for being a claimed 275 width tire.

I wish I could see a picture of someone running 275's on the stock wheels.

From the pics I have seen it looks like they have a slight bulge.

Okay, let me be devils advocate, looks like some bulge to me, minimal, but it is there.

I can see what people are talking about with these MAYBE flexing at high speeds.

Yeah it looks ver slight, unlike the other pics I saw. I wonder how they would look on the Beyern 5's 17X8.5?

I doubt there would be any bulge. And honestly I don't feel like I even see a bulge when I look at them in person, and keep in mind mine are sitting at 33psi.

And you have no rubbing issues even over bumps and hard acceleration?

None that I have noticed. The car will go back on the rack tomorrow to check for any signs of rubbing and then over to the alignment rack. my stock tires wore really badly, so I need to have that fixed before these things are shot!

They do run narrow. When my dad got a set for his 1995 Impala SS they were just about the same width as the 255's. They didnt look any wider. Im going to eventually get a set for my car.

Zero rubbing and I drive it like I stole it.

no rub no fender roll ?

I'm going to try it.why not

Edit: But Nitto doesn't list an 8" wheel as a mountable wheel size for the 275 tire... no concern there ?

Have had the 275's on stock rims since Norwalk (May 10) No fender roll, no rubbing, I thought they were but it was track tar pickup. They don't bulge much but I wouldn't autocross on them. I have them mounted on a spare set of rims so I only use them for track days or when I'm looking for trouble :secret:
