I took the plunge and ordered some 245/45/17 NT 555R's. Only bought a set of two that I plan on putting on my stock wheels.

As soon as I can find two more stock wheels to buy I will put some good All Seasons on those.

Can't wait to see the benefit to my ET.

Last best time was 13.6 with a 2.1 60ft @ 103.45, I am hoping these get me in the 13.4 range.

Why didn't you go with the 275's?

Because no matter what anyone says our wheels are sized to 245 not 275 and I want to be 100% sure they fit with no rubbing.

DMS has installed the 245's on lots of stock wheels.

You'll find that the 275 Nitto DRs are about the same size width as a 255 tire. That's why they fit so well.

The question I have is why doesn't Nitto list an 8" wheel as a mountable option ? That's a bit of a concern, but I am getting very close to pulling the tigger.

What do you mean about 8" being mountable?

Congrats, but I still say you should have gotten the 275s. Oh well, I love mine, I am sure you will too!

What do you mean about 8" being mountable?Actually it's approved rim size From the Nitto website they call for a 9-10 " Rim (9.5 optimal) :

http://www.nittotire.com/popup_555r_sizes.asp

but obviously people are having sucess with 275's on stock rims

Hey to each his own, I was VERY skeptical too about running a 275 on an 8 inch rim but I took the plunge and they look fine and they don't rub (no fender rolling). I only use them at the track, not everyday.

Yeah, 275's seem to be no problem out back.

I am thinking goin 245 DRs out back though. It costs less and the performance difference between 245-275 isn't night and day i think. At least for what i am after. I just want consistently low 60' so my ETs show more of the power of the car and not a wheel hoping hole shot.

When I got mine the 275/40 R17's were cheaper than the 245/45/ R17's (go figure)

I ran mine for 13K miles with no problems. They fit fine. You still will benefit from the drags over the stock tires and you will be able to drop 2/10th easy.

Whats everyone loading up front, 555's no DR ? or do they look better with DR's front and Rear

You don't want DR's in front, that would be bad mmmmkkkay?
Some run the stock size Nitto 555 (245/45 R17) (NOT the DR but it has the same tread pattern) http://www.nittotire.com/tires_555.asp
I'd stay away from the 555 rII, stiff sidewall = not good for drags but good for autocross. If you do get the rII, get it in the stock size, if you can find it. I've only seen 275/40 R17's

Me? I've got the stock BFG's I don't care much about appearances, if someone's gonna nit pick over my tires not matching I'll just laugh at them. :gr_jest:

Looks like the 275's are still $10 cheaper... At least at discount tire

I run the Nitto 555 tire in a 245/45/17 up front with the 275/40/17 Nitto 555r out back. I had to replace all four tires when I did it due to excessive wear on the stock BFGs, otheriwse I would have just left those up front.

Oh yeah, I love my Nitto DRs!

That is the exact setup I am running and I have absolutely no issues! PM me or let me know if you want pictures of all the tires!
