Spoke with a rep for American Racing at Columbus and he's offering a pretty decent deal on a set of these:

link to Amercian Racing (http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/details.asp? wheelid=154&name=Rebel%20Chrome&style=699&desc=1-piece%20chrome%20plated%20alloy&section=P)

He insists that the 17x9 will fit the GTO with no need for hubcentric rings. Anybody else out there running 17x9? Opinions on the need for hubcentric rings?

From what I've read and the offset listed, those wheels are not even gonna come close to fitting. Not nearly enough offet. They list 25 mm and you'll need at least 45 mm (with rolled or cut fenders). Even 50 mm might rub. Also, they don't list 5 X 120 mm bolt circle which is what the GTO has. Sounds to me like Mr. American Racing is not well informed about our cars.

I hate to burst your bubble, but those won't work. Not enough offset, wrong bolt pattern, and a 9" wide wheel/tire won't fit the front. According to AR's catalog, they had Mustangs & F-bodys in mind when that wheel was designed. Since most aftermaket wheels are designed to fit many different cars, you should always get hubcentric rings if they are offered. Hell, ask for them even if they aren't offered. I got my wheels w/o the rings. No matter how good I balanced them, they shook. I ordered the rings from the place I ordered the wheels, it took away at least 90% of the vibration. I still got a little shimmy, nothing major.

Thanks - oh well. Another nice 5 spoke down the drain.

One question: when I see these offsets +38, +25, etc. what measurment is this in? Centimeters, inches, miles?

The offset measurement is in millimeters.
