Arguably, the best of the best when discussing snipers. Here's a link to some interesting stuff about him.

Not very many are cut from cloth like that one.

No argument... Gunny was indeed the greatest sniper to ever live. It's a shame that it took decades (and a lot of publicity) for him to be credited and awarded for his accomplishments.

Read the numerous books about his life and you'll never be the same.

Not taking anything away from Mr. Hathcock but I believe their are quite a few snipers with more then 93 kills. I believe there is a Finnish sniper that had something like 500 kills.

It's not about the number of kills (which is about 300 anyway), but the astounding shots that he completed.

He is 'the' legend.

Once, for fun, he shot a bike out from under someone from what I believe was a half mile away. A bike frame is what... 1/2" in thickness? And it was in motion. The guywas simply the best.

He was also the one that inspired that scene in "Sniper" where the countersniper was shot through his eye, through the scope on his rifle. Hathcock was in place for his shot when out of the corner of his eye he saw a glint of light... it was sunlight flickering off the lens of a countersniper's scope... he spun around and in the blink of an eye locked up and shot the guy through that scope and through his eye.

If you could assign 'style points'... the guy would be off the charts.

...also a very good read is 'Shooter: The Autobiography of the Top-Ranked Marine Corps Sniper' the story of Staff Sergeant Jack Coughlin. though he may not have the numbers or the style of hathcock, this was a book that i could not put down!

I read a couple of books about Carlos and they really do change the way you look at a sniper and what a sniper is capable of doing.

My next build is going to be a tactical .308 sometime this next year.

I find that show hilarious, as I have personally witnessed a couple of different items they said were impossible.

I have no problem believing that a high volume shooter made some "unbelievable" shots. I have done several things in life that were far beyond any real skill I had, but I CAN'T repeat them. Combine extraordinary skill with a bit of luck, and anything can happen.
