So I decided I'm going to build an AR15 instead seeing that I will save money compared to buying a completed one. So no more Ruger 1022 for me :bomb:. Anyway, does anyone know where the hell I can find an AR15 stripped lower that is IN STOCK?! Every website I check it says Out of Stock!! I will be looking to order one next Friday..HALP?!

I would say most everyone will be out of stock. Check your local gun shops regularly to see if they get anything in. You will pay more but at least you will have one.

Would I be rude to question you? lol..I will anyway. Would it be wise to purchase a used lower receiver? or any gun part for that matter? Thanks for the resource either way! :burnout:

You're definitely late on this boat. Be prepared to wait, or overpay.

nothing wrong with buying used. I have bought a lot of my stuff used.

I have bought from gunbroker before and just make sure you buy from someone with good feedback. I have bought a used gun before with no problems. I guess it all depends on what you want to spend. You are going to have to have the receiver sent to a FFL so be prepared to pay for that as well. All the other parts can be sent directly to your house.

Ok so let me get this straight.

I can order all necessary bolts and springs (kit) shipped directly to my house, but for the receivers I would have to have it shipped to a local dealer that is licensed?

Yikes, little late on getting AR parts that rush was October/November ;) Yes the stripped lower needs to be shipped to an FFL.

I payed $140 each for several stripped lowers just a month ago, now the same ones are going for over $250 and are hard to find - I can tell you where some good quality ones are in stock, but they are $289

Sun Devil lowers are supposed to be pretty decent. If I didn't have 5 ARs already I'd grab one. I'm just waiting to see if the prices drop back to normal in a few months. If they don't, then I can still get lowers at inflated prices if I feel the need.

I think you'll see a lot of NIB ARs and AKs on the market in about 4-6 months when people who aren't shooters bought one and need to feed the family.

Man - I bought my first AR back around 1984. A slab sided colt. Think it was around $375. Traded it a few years later for a Ruger super redhawk .44 at a gun show. The tag on the redhawk was $480.

Then the "gun ban" scare hit. The value of that slab sided colt was just under $2,000 for a used one. hell, a mini 14 ranch rifle was over $1,000. People were running scared just like today.....then the terms of the "ban" came down (no supressor, no bayonet attach, 5 round mag) and the price dropped - - not real low, but you could get a new quality A2 for under $1K - ie colt, armalite, bushy.....

I would bet the same cycle will occur again. There are way too many pro-gun groups, orgs and lobbists to let something get a perma ban.

I am keeping my powder dry for a Devine grade M1A. That will compliment my supermatch. Problem is, all the M1A's have been artifically inflated over the past 5+ years, as they were reintroduced to our forces during the war, and those guys came home and started buying. There has been a somewhat limited supply.

Yes. The lower is the only part with serial numbers. Everything else can be shipped to your house.

hell - in 2006, my AR cost me almost $4k, and it does not even have a scope, runs a bushmaster lower, and weighs over 13 lbs.

I found a new stripped lower at a store for pretty cheap last week. It was Smith & Wesson. I immediately bought it because I knew it would be gone soon. Now I just can't find any CAR flattop uppers. Or barrels.

I also bought a Century Arms A2 style AR from a local gunshop for $700. It is basically a surplus M-16 with a new DPMS barrel (non-chrome lined), DMPS lower and lower parts kit, and new generic stock and hand guards. The M-16 bolt (marked "mpc") has been milled down to semi-auto standards.

You just have to look. And look hard and long and make shit tons of phone calls and bug a lot of people.

basically i just want to get a new 16" barrel with threaded end before that is banned. Everything else can wait till this madness dies down.

Century guns are made from some new parts and some used parts. The bolt and carrier are used/surplus, as well as the trigger group. No one seems to know where the barrel comes from, but I'm sure it's fine.

It's not a bad gun, especially since you managed to get one for a decent price. The good thing about the ar15 is that anyone with some instruction can take apart the gun and replace worn parts.

Good luck with it.

I sold my SKS on GB, and my Norinco Steel core, I had Zero feedback, but I linked it to my 'bay acct which has years of good FB. Smooth on both ends for both buyers.

the consensus at ar-15.com was tht the barrel was dpms. But it is hard to tell when there are no markings. Its just gonna be a plinker that I will leave in A2 configuration, maybe throw a scope on it. I'm gonna make the M&P15 into a pimpin carbine. It's going to be great. I always wanted to build a totally custom ar from the ground up using only the brand parts and configuration I want. Much better than paying 1200 for a new carbine and spending hundreds more to replace the parts I dont like. I am so excited.
