i have an DD-only LS2, with 3200 stall, headers coming. rims are 18" driv vixen's.
want only 245/40/18 with $500 to spend (using the $ saved to get drag bags):

-Cooper Zeon 2XS ($115ish each including mounting, balancing, total is $460)

-Sumitomo ZRII - ($102+12shipping+20mount = $135 each, $540 total)

-Nexen 3000 ($92+12shipping+20mount = $124each, $496 total)

ps - want strictly summer tire.. looking for dry grip to handle my mods and treadwear at least 25-30k miles, handling is preferred, not needed. do NOT care about rain grip, noise, or track performance

thoughts? other <$500 suggestions? Thanks, and i appreciate any input!!

depends on what you want.
I have the nexen 3000's on my aftermarket 18s and here are my thoughts

highs: amazing treadwear..I've burned out several times..and no sign of wear whatsoever.

lows: terrible traction in every way shape and form. can't hook from a 35mph roll, and I chirp tires up to the 3rd gear shift(m6 tranny). also they can't keep up on the twisties at all.. I was on a cruise this year and these tires couldn't hang with any of the other guys at all. performance wise THEY FLAT OUT SUCK

so... if your looking for a tire to smurf around in..and you want it to last you a long time.. go with the nexens.. they'll last you for freakin ever......but if you want any performance at all..don't get them

just my 2cents.

$80 sounds like a lot to mount, the local Pontiac dealer in Champaign to mount/balance/disposed of my tires for $55 total.
